The next morning, Frade sent someone to the hospital to take Liv and me to Vickie's estate.

The hospital will send a professional nurse to check on me and Liv every day.

In fact, I have almost recovered. But Liv was injured and she is still recovering. She had been able to walk from her room to the garden by herself, and sometimes I would see Mark beside her.

I stood in the hallway and looked out the window at Liv and Mark, who were walking through the garden. I watched Mark walk Liv slowly down the flowery path. My heart suddenly felt a little touched. They look like a good match.

"Miss Green." A man's voice pulled my thoughts away from Liv and Mark. I turned and saw Kohl, Vickie's servant.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"Mrs. Logan would like to invite you to morning tea," Kohl said politely.

"Now?" I wondered. If I was right, it was past my morning tea. "Is she in the garden?"

"No, she's waiting for you in her room," said Kohl. "Mrs. Logan would like you to go now."

It was my third day back at the manor and the first time I had been invited by Vickie. Since I haven't had a chance to see her since I came back, I thought it would be polite to thank her in person. After all, she agreed to let Liv move in with me.

"Okay."

Kohl led me to the floor where Vickie lived, on the top floor of the estate. Vickie was waiting for me in the middle of a large open garden on the top floor. When she saw me, she just nodded at me from a distance and motioned me over. As I sat in the chair in front of her, Kohl brought me a glass of iced lemonade.

"You seem to be recovering well." Vickie managed a polite smile, but soon the creases on her face began to crumble. She stared at me with those piercing eyes.

"Thank you so much for letting me and my friends stay on your estate," I said heartily. "You are a good person."

"But this is the first time I've ever heard someone tell me I'm a good person," Vickie said. "If you knew what I did when I was young, I don't think you'd think so."

I took a sip of cold lemonade. My gut tells me she wants more than tea. After a few seconds, Vickie said to me.

"You and Frade were close. I saw it all."

My heart thumped. Was she referring to the day I went swimming with Frade in the pool?

"I remember asking you if you loved Arthur," Vickie continued. "And I remember telling you that I would choose Frade if I were you."

"Frade and I are just friends," I lied. "It's not what you think."

"Don't get me wrong. I just don't want my two grandchildren fighting over the same woman again. It's not worth it," Vickie said.

"This is a woman-to-woman conversation," Vickie said calmly. "When I first met you, I admitted that I liked you. But I had to think about my grandson, and I had to think about the entire Logan family."

I listened quietly to what she said. I had better keep silent in front of this experienced family leader.

"I can see Frade likes you. He chose to get engaged to a Woodd girl in order to compete with Arthur. Now the Moors are broken. But it wasn't Frade, it wasn't Arthur, it was you. "Vickie, look at me, "The hatred between the Moors and the Logan goes back to a generation, and it was the mission of the Logan family to destroy the Moors, but now you've done it for us, and for that I owe you a debt of gratitude."
