"We also need a bottle of wine." Tommy took a bottle of Lafite from the wine cabinet. When he opened it, the aroma of the wine filled the room.

"Now we can begin." Tommy handed me the wine goblet and sat down beside me.

I think quickly in my mind. In order not to let my cousin be unacceptable for a while, I purposely left out some of the content, only briefly describing me and Mikeal's grudge. I didn't tell him about my experience on Pudding Island. After I learned that I was not Mikeal's biological child, I argued with him, so we didn't contact each other anymore.

When I told Tommy that Ron was cheating on me with Gina and was transferring the debt onto me. He was so angry that he kept swearing at Ron and Gina.

"I'm glad it's over," I said. "They got what they deserved."

As time goes on, they will all turn into a pile of bones.

"So what happened to Mia?" Tommy asked, "I can't believe Mikeal sent her to live in a b.rothel. He was so awful. Mia must have suffered a lot. I've seen so many women at the bottom of the heap. They not only have to earn a living but also have to endure men's violence and betrayal. Some of these women have even suffered from drug-induced psychosis. It's a terrible life."

Indeed, Mia's been through a lot. Whether or not she betrayed Frade, she was entitled to a portion of the Wilson family fortune. She deserved it.

"I'd love to meet Mia if I could," Tommy said. "I'm really curious about her."

"You'll get a chance to meet her," I said.

At that point, my phone received a text message from Daley. He wants me to take Tommy back to the party because he wants to meet my family.

"Tommy, I think it's time for me to go." I downed my glass of wine. "Daley wants to meet you, officially."

"Even though I've met him, I want to be there as your family," Tommy said. "And I want to remind him that if I find out he's mean to you, I'm going to make him suffer."

Tommy's words warmed my heart, and even though Tommy and I hadn't spoken in years, his presence quickly brought us closer together. Mia, on the other hand, I always felt like there was a wall between us.

"Come on, don't keep your husband waiting." Tommy reached for his coat on the hanger. As he put it on, I realized that the little boy had grown up.

'Eva, I like you.'

His words flashed through my mind, but soon the new wave was calm again. I caught my breath, got up, and followed him out of the room.

We went back to the casino hotel and Daley was standing outside waiting for us. As soon as I got out of the car, Daley came over and put his arm around my waist. He smiled at Tommy.

"Nice to meet you, Tommy."

"I remember the last time I saw you, you were not Eva's husband yet," Tommy teased. "That was quick, Daley."

"I was lucky enough to have the perfect bride," Daley said. "I had the chef prepare some delicious food. Let's try it."

"My pleasure."

Daley leads us to a private restaurant, and soon the waiters are serving plates of delicious food. The main course was a white truffle with foie gras and a Spanish ham with red wine. I sat next to Daley and listened to the men talk.

After a chat, Daley started introducing his hotel and casino to Tommy. At first, I thought it was just a brief introduction. To my surprise, when Tommy got excited, Daley took out the contract he had prepared and put it on the table.

"If you're interested, why don't you sign it now?" Daley said, as a veteran of the business, "I am confident that these projects will show you amazing pay soon. Besides, we are family, and you can trust me."

Tommy's face turned red after drinking. He looked at me for a moment, then, without thinking, he picked up a pen and signed the contract. I saw the corners of Daley's mouth rise.

He had a plan.

"To the family," Tommy said, raising his glass.

"To the family," Daley said cheerfully, his hand caressing my thigh under the table, but I took it away.

"To the family," I said, finishing my glass.

Tommy was so drunk that Daley asked the waiter to take him back to his hotel room to rest. Soon we were back in the room.

I went into the bathroom without a word and locked the door to keep Daley out. When I got out of the shower, I lay down on the bed.

"You seem upset." Daley's voice came from behind.

"I don't like it." I leaned my head on the pillow and looked out the window.

"I hope you can make it clearer," Daley said. "You don't think I should be working with your cousin?"

"No." I sat up in bed and turned to look at him, "I don't like it when you make a simple family dinner look like a business negotiation. I don't like it. I'm even wondering if you've wanted to work with the Wilsons for a long time, and I don't believe your meeting with Tommy was a coincidence."

"I don't want to lie to you," Daley said calmly. "I did plan on getting the Wilson family to work together, and the first time I saw Tommy was a special arrangement."

I was surprised that he hadn't hidden it from me. I felt cheated.

"So you had a plan, didn't you?" I asked him. "Did you marry me for a reason?"

"I want to marry you, and that's a fact," Daley said bluntly, "I want to work with the Wilson family, and that's a fact. You're not Mikeal's daughter, but you're a Wilson. This is an unchangeable fact."

"I don't understand you." I stared at him. "What do you want from me?"

"I don't understand you either," Daley said with a tired look on his face. "Marriage is about cooperation. I told you I would create a better future for you, but only if you were on my side."

"If I wasn't from Green, would you still be married to me?"

"But you're from Wilson."

"If I had nothing," I said, staring at him. "If I were a woman like Mia, would you marry me?"

He pursed his lips and was silent for a few seconds.

"You're a pure white rose, and she's just a weed growing in sewage. You two are different."

I feel sad about the reality that everything he does is always in his interest.

"It's too late. I think you should rest." He turned and headed for the door.

"Don't wait for me."

I leaned against the pillow, unable to sleep.
