I went to the hotel, and as I put my feet on the soft carpet in the hallway, the old memories began to flash through my mind like a movie.

My entanglement with him began when I stepped through the door.

The door opened, and Frade appeared in front of me. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, and the top button was untied to his chest to reveal strong muscles. He leaned against the door, a glass of orange liquid in one hand.

"Come in."

I walked into the room under his direct gaze. As the door closed, I suddenly felt a strange heat behind me, like a centipede climbing up my spine. I stood at the window and was afraid to turn around, because I was afraid to see the blazing heat in his green eyes.

"Sit down." His voice was less than three steps behind me. I took a deep breath and tried to hold back some of the panic.

His face always makes me inexplicably nervous. My body's blood cannot help but want to boil when hearing his voice.

"Please sit," he said.

I couldn't let him read my mind, and I kept reminding myself that I was there to cooperate with him.

I sat at the other end of the sofa, his masculine scent mixed with the smell of whiskey wafting into my nose.

So familiar.

"Does your husband know you're here?" He asked.

"Does your fiancee know we're meeting in private?" I asked.

Of course, she doesn't, because she's too busy playing catch-up with Tommy right now. Poor Tommy doesn't know he's Mia's plaything.

"I don't need to report my whereabouts to him," I said.

"Me too." He chuckled. "So what do you want from me, Mrs. Logan?"

"It's Daley." I looked ahead. "Maybe he's conspiring with someone against you."

"Am I hearing things wrong?" Frade said. "If you know that your husband is planning against me, isn't that a good thing for you? Are you worried about me?"

"I want to remind you that maybe that spy is right next to you."

"Who is it?" He asked.

"Would you believe me?"

"Maybe."

"It's Mia." I looked at him and he laughed.

"Mia? Are you serious?" He shook his head. "Daley may be ganging up on me, but it's not Mia."

"What if it's true?" I wanted to tell him about the text that Mia had sent Daley, but he didn't believe me.

"What if it's true?" He finished his glass in one gulp and set it down on the low table. He repeated what I had said as if thinking.

"If this is true."

His hand touched the couch and moved closer and closer to me, the familiar scent becoming stronger until his hand touched the hair on the back of my neck. I tried to keep a calm face, but my heart was already beating faster.

"If I die, will you cry for me?"

His voice rang in my ears, and every cell in my body was jumping.

"Daley and I will continue to fight for the family succession. Only one of us will survive," he said, stroking my hair with his fingers. "Who do you want to be the last one to live?"

"I want you all to live." Sometimes I don't understand why men fight for power and interests. Are interests really above everything in men's hearts?

The old knights fought for honour, but now men are trapped in the abyss of money. They take the pursuit of the highest power as the goal of life. This is not the life I want.

And as for what I want, none of them can give me.

"People always have to choose." His finger moved to my cheek. I unconsciously shrink my neck. I feel hot and itchy.

"Mia and Daley are conspiring against you, although I don't know exactly what their plans are," I decided to tell him. "But I saw a text between Mia and Daley and Mia told him everything was going well according to plan."

"So?" He doesn't care at all.

"I want you to be careful of Mia."

"I believe Mia won't betray me," he said.

My heart suddenly cooled. He didn't believe what I said. Even if I told him about Mia and Tommy kissing at the bar right now, it wouldn't matter. He believes in Mia, just as he hurt Daley for her.

I feel like an idiot. Why would I go looking for him?

"Whatever Daley is up to, I'm not going to let him get away with it," Frade said. "He's lost to me before, and this time it's going to be the same."

"You are too arrogant." I feel helpless.

"Are you making this up because you're jealous that Mia is with me?"

Frade's words annoyed me, and I stood up straight from the sofa.

"If I had known you were a fool, I wouldn't have come to you." I glared at him. "I was kind enough to warn you, but you thought I was jealous. It seems we have nothing more to talk about."

Just as I was about to turn around, he grabbed my wrist and said, "Wait."

"Are you mad? Are you mad because of me?" He seemed happy. "You still care about me, don't you?"

"Don't ever talk to me like that again." I flung his hand away. "Forget what I said."

I slammed the door shut and walked straight into the elevator, cursing Frade in my mind. I don't understand what witchcraft Mia used on him to make him lose his mind.

I hated him playing cat and mouse with me, but I hate why I still care about him. My heart and even my body can't help being controlled by him. What should I do?

I felt helpless, so I walked alone in the street aimlessly. I tried to calm my mind by walking. The night wind blew on my face, and before I knew it, I was in a Lonely Park.

Calm down, I think, maybe I did wrong. I shouldn't have trusted Mia. I shouldn't have promised her Wilson status too soon. I gave her too much.

But she suffered too much. She slept with our father. That is why I am kind to her. But she failed me again by not telling me about her relationship with Daley.

I'm in pain. I don't want anyone to get hurt in this fight for the family heirs. Maybe I can stop Daley before he gets to Frade. Maybe I have to go to Vickie because she's the only one who can help me.

I pulled out my cell phone to call Vickie when a dark shadow blocked my path. Before I looked up to see who was in front of me, a pair of strong hands behind me gripped my shoulders tightly. I felt something covering my nose and a very pungent smell numbed my mouth and nose.

My eyes went black and I lost consciousness for a moment.
