Dear Diary,

Maybe I should stop starting with something as cheesy as that. It feels less like I'm a demigod recounting my recent horrors and more like I'm a girl in 1995 talking about how cute Joshua looked during math class today.

Where was I... Oh. The party.

I woke up the next morning on Suki's bed. She was on the ground, fast asleep with her head smashed against the floorboards and her black hair obscuring her face. I sat up and saw that it was fairly early in the morning- way before school, at least. It was actually still dark out. I couldn't hear music anymore, and nobody was talking. I considered just sitting in silence until Suki woke up, but I didn't have to, because she sat up like she had never been asleep in the first place.

"Hi," she said to me, standing straight up.

I stared at her, blinking tiredly. "Hi."

"I had a weird dream."

I frowned. I'd learned that demigod dreams were a fairly common things. Most of the time, they sucked, but they might give you some answers or something. After all, Suki's father had a dream in 2001 that something bad would happen to the camp.

"What was it about?" I asked her hesitantly.

She ran to her bag. "We need to get across the river."

"What?" She grabbed a hair brush and swiped it through her hair aggressively. "Why?"

"There's an entrance," she said. "I think there's something in there." She turned to me desperately. "I think we have to go in there."

"No," I said. "No, if the time dilation is really a thing-"

"We won't go far," she said. "And it'll be me, since you get sleepy if you get close to it. But we only have a few days until Somnus attacks, and we can't waste anymore time! I thought you could stay outside the entrance and keep guard. I'll have a rope tied around me and tug it back to find you, or multiple tugs to say I'm in danger or coming back. Like- Like Bird Box combined with Arianna's string." I deadpanned. "It's a perfect plan! Malorie survived!"

"Malorie survived freaky monsters and her kids being idiots," I corrected. "Not vengeful gods trying to unleash death on us."

"I'm going," she insisted. She stood straight and looked at me, her shoulders tense. "I'll do it, with or without you."

I could tell she was trying to be brave, but she was obviously scared out of her mind. I frowned, considering the dangers. I knew two of us wouldn't work out. There was just no way. Especially if I was going to continue falling asleep down there.

"I think we should take one more person," I said.

"Not Sebastian," she pleaded. "He'll get in so much trouble! He already has dirt on his name because of-"

"Not Sebastian," I agreed, shaking my head. "There was one other person that believed us that night. And he's a golden boy."
