Dear Diary,

"Wait, what?" Jason whispered.

"All four of us are together," I snapped. "It's generating too much heat!"

"Split up!" Sebastian said. "Don't let him touch you."

We split apart, jumping in four separate directions around the escalator.

"Jason, zap the lights!" Sebastian hissed. "We're blind."

"Don't do that," I retorted. "We don't know the integrity of the structure, and a power surge could destroy more than it creates."

"She's right," Suki said, clicking her flashlight on.

I copied her motion, and Sebastian did as well. We aimed all four flashlights on the creature, who was leaving a chemically burned trail behind him. I wondered what else he'd been composed of to create such an effect, but maybe that was just the spirit of the being; destructive.

"Do not touch it," Suki said. "It'll disintegrate our weapons in seconds."

"How do you know?" Sebastian asked. "Imperial gold is on a different level."

"Test it," I suggested.

Sebastian narrowed his eyes. "I'm good."

It started trying to move closer to Sebastian, like it was unsure of his heat. It must've targeted him since Sebastian is the biggest of us all. Sebastian simply moved back and jumped on top of an old shoe rack. The monster stopped and moaned in defeat but didn't move from that spot.

Curiously, Suki picked up a piece of wood, and threw it. She missed of course, since she's terrible at throwing anything. She pouted and signaled me, so I grabbed a different piece of wood and threw it at the monster. As soon as the wood landed in the good, it began steaming and crumbling up. The monster moaned, created a mouth, and regurgitated powder.

"How the hell do we kill it if it just melts everything?" Sebastian said.

"Exactly," Suki said. "We don't kill it. The tunnel is right over there."

"This feels weird," Jason muttered, shaking his head. "Why does this thing exist?"

"Let's stop calling it a thing," Sebastian said, putting his hands up. "I'm calling him Glossy."

Suddenly, with alarming speed, Glossy's entire body turned into a glossy bullet and shot at the spot Sebastian had once been standing. Sebastian's eyes widened as the creature's essence splattered, making Sebastian pull his legs further back. The old spot before the shoe rack was steaming and crumbling, and Glossy resumed his form. He moaned in defeat, but began concentrating on where Sebastian was currently standing.

"Seb, move!" Suki whispered.

Sebastian listened. He jumped off the shoe rack just as Glossy shot himself at it. The entire structure melted, making Glossy vomit again as he moaned miserably. Sebastian stood at the foot of the old escalator, several feet from Glossy.
