Dear Diary,

The pizza was good, and Maia decided to feed Percival a piece of pepperoni, which Sebastian insisted on watching. I had no idea he was a snake enthusiast. I could've gone without knowing. Danielle went on and on about what Jason was like as a little boy, which embarrassed him, then decided to turn in for the night after brushing her teeth and braiding her hair. Then she yelled at Maia for having a filthy bedroom, which apparently "smelled like ass" and had "dirty draws" everywhere. Maia yelled back about it being "lived in" and not being "compulsively neat", so Dani slammed the door.

Maia rolled her eyes and supplied the boys with blankets. "See what I have to live with?"

"Reminds me of Suki," Sebastian mumbled.

Suki frowned. "It does not hurt to be clean."

"The shower is at the very end of the hall on the left side," Maia said, pointing. "We don't care if you guys take turns throughout the night or in the morning. We were questers once before. If you need more blankets, we have a ton in the hall closet. Remote's here." She lifted it and handed it to Jason. "I'll be in the dining room."

I blinked. "Huh? Why?"

"I go to bed later than Dani." Maia shrugged. "I'll be working. If you need anything, just ask." For someone that seemed so grumpy, she really was quite nice. "I'll take you girls to Dani's room."

She led us to the farthest door on the right side of the hallway, and turned on the light. I first noticed just how clean the room was. While Maia's hadn't been as filthy as Dani said, just really cluttered and loud, Dani's was much calmer. Her dark blue bedsheets were neatly made and her carpet had been freshly vacuumed. Her bedside table had a single lamp, plus a book titled The Handmaid's Tale with a bookmark in it. Her closet door was closed, and she had a small bookshelf with a few cute decorations, but mostly neat books.

"Wow," Suki said. "It's clean in here."

"Dani insists on not having a personality when it comes to her room decor." I snickered. "Toilet's right across the hall, like I said. Y'know where more blankets are and everything. Need anything else?"

"No," I said, leaning my bag against the wall. "Thank you for everything."

She shrugged. "I'm not as mean as I seem. I just don't like meeting new people."

"Tell me about it."

Suki smiled at her. "You're really nice."

Maia's face turned red and she started fiddling with a food stain she'd just acquired. "Well, I try." She turned and walked off. "'Night, guys."

"Goodnight." She closed the door, leaving Suki and I alone together. I was now very aware of the single bed we had to share, which shouldn't have been too bad, really. I mean, Suki and I shared a bed in her hotel room.

Right away, Suki grabbed her rope. "I'm exhausted, so I worry about sleepwalking." She set it aside and dug in her bag. "I think I'll probably go ahead and take a shower. I feel too dirty to sleep in her nice sheets."

"I'll go after you," I agreed.

Suki nodded. "I'll be quick."
