Hello again.
When I woke up, I was in my bed, which I rarely sleep in anyways. The sun came in through the window, illuminating my white blankets. I stared up at the top of Sebastian's bunk, blinking tiredly, wondering how I had gotten here, if we had won the battle, and who was still alive.
"SUKI!" Sebastian dropped down from his bunk and crashed next to my bed. I turned my head to stare at him. "Are you okay? How do you feel?"
I stared at him. "Did we... win?"
He blinked. "Huh?"
"The fight. We win?"
He hesitated. "Yeah. We won good. Um... what's the last thing you remember?"
I stared at the bottom of his bunk again. My sheets smelled very fresh. "I remember..." I thought very hard about that. "Catapults." I looked at Sebastian. "I was aiming catapults. Then I think... I drove a chariot, maybe." I shook my head. "I can't remember after that."
Sebastian grinned and reached out to stroke my head. He was actually gentle. "You were a total badass, Suki. Everyone's talking about you."
"Who got me here?"
"Me and Jason brought you here," Sebastian said. "Mom and Felix have been checking on you. You've been asleep for... psh, nearly twenty-four hours now?"
I gasped. "I have?"
"Yeah, bro."
"Then, I need to get up!" I began trying to sit up, and Sebastian blinked. "I need to do some help! The city is-"
"Whoa there." Sebastian grabbed my shoulder. "Suki... something happened." I waited. "To you, I mean."
I frowned. "What?"
Sebastian pursed his lips. "No easy way to go about this..."
He reached over, and lifted my blankets. At first, I was really embarrassed, because I was wearing very short shorts that I do not recall owning. But I stopped being embarrassed in about two seconds.
I didn't have a leg anymore.
I do not usually feel my own body, so I guess that is why I didn't feel it at first. I sat up, and felt a faint pressure in the base of my bandages, which were covering the nub just below my knee. I still had my left leg, which was in top notch condition. More than before, actually. I hadn't shaved in weeks, which was embarrassing, but somebody shaved me baby smooth.
Odd.
But I was a little more focused on my lack of a limb. I looked at Sebastian, who looked very sad- unusual for him- and he just stared at my snub. "I'm sorry, Suki. We tried. Arlo said-"
I stared at my snub. "Nemesis did it." I shrugged. "It was an exchange. I just didn't know it would hurt so bad." I tried to keep my tone light, so Sebastian didn't get worried, but my sadness was a little bit overwhelming. It was obvious I was very upset about being less of a person, I think.
