Dear diary,

"REYNA!" Jason yanked me out of the line before I could join the showers, and he already began running with my arm locked in his.

"Jason, tell me where the hell we're going, or so help me Jupiter-"

"It's Seb's mom!" He pulled me out of the barracks, his red cape flowing behind him. It had a suspicious stain on it near his shoulder. "She's having her babies!"

I frowned. "Jason, is that orange juice?"

His face turned red and he wouldn't look at me. "I- It's nothing." I bit back a laugh. "Seb just came and told me, and I had to get you. He already took Suki to the hospital, says she's gonna pop any minute."

"Well, why do I need to be there?" I demanded. I broke my arm free, but continued running with him, which was certainly a workout since it was uphill and a solid mile away. And probably another half mile to the hospital, actually. "Why do you need to be there?"

"Seb requested," Jason answered, shaking his head. "I- I have no idea why. I mean, we're obviously not gonna be in the delivery room. That's just weird. But we also have to pick up the birth cake."

"Birth cake?"

Jason rolled his eyes. "Seb was frantic. Just said 'traditional, probably while a boy gets circumcised, and it's under Mom's name.'" My face turned red, and Jason noticed it. "Uh- You know what circumcision is, right?"

"Yeah," I muttered, looking away. "Doesn't mean I wanna hear about it."

"Hey, I'm not a fan of the language either, but we're Sebastian's friends. We might wanna get used to it."

"How does Suki live with that guy?"

"She's way stronger than us, that's for sure."

We passed Terminus with no trouble, since we're both up to code and he likes Jason, and he cares a lot about Lisa. We picked up a lemon raspberry cake on the way, plus the candles the shop owner made us take, because of the "tradition", but we left before we could get the details on the tradition. I figured I'd just ask Sebastian at the hospital.

We walked inside, and the receptionist smiled at us. "Hello! Who are you here to see?"

"Reyna! Jason!" Sebastian got off the elevator, which I didn't expect the hospital to have, since it's pretty small, and I saw a new bandage on his arm. "C'mere. The doctors says she's..." He thought deeply. "90% effaced, and they're expecting a natural delivery for the twins." He winced. "We need to make offerings to Mars for making my mom so strong."

"What's effaced?" Jason asked. We entered the elevator, and Sebastian smashed the button for the doors to close. "Why are twins different?"

"Effaced means..." He glanced at Jason. "Y'know what a cervix is?"

"No."

Sebastian looked forward. "'Kay. Come over to my house later, and we're gonna have a chat." I hung my head. "Basically, she's ninety-percent of the way to birth. And twins is different, since it's more stress on my mom. A lot of times, twins come a couple weeks earlier, and they're usually C-sections."
