Dear Diary,
Suki and I knocked on the front door of the house, which was way too big for two parents and one child, but I guessed Aisha had friends over a lot, which was the only explanation for the size of the house. Though, some people are just greedy. Me and Hylla were alone with one parent in a giant house that served no purpose. It was just a status symbol.
The door opened. The girl, Aisha, had pretty black hair pulled into a coily bun, and she wore green eyeliner, which was unique but looked natural on her. "Suki and Reyna?"
Suki nodded. "Claire invited-"
"Claire!" Aisha called with a smile. "Your friends are here!" She waved us in. "C'mon. Just put your bags wherever. We have the downstairs tonight."
Suki turned to me as we entered. "The downstairs...?"
I rubbed my fingers together. "Smells like green."
"Definitely."
Aisha closed the door. Suki and I neatly hung our backpacks on the coat hanger, where I recognized Claire's was as well. The other girls just had them against the wall or on the couch.
Aisha led us to the kitchen, where several girls were gathered around a table playing Uno. I felt awkward, but refused to show it, even when they clearly noticed two strangers in their midst. Claire stopped talking and waved at us. "Dude, we were just talking about you guys."
Aisha handed us each a soda. We said thank you, then traded when she wasn't looking. I don't like RC, Suki isn't huge on Fanta. Win-win. "Just take a seat."
The girls made space for us to sit, and Aisha brought in two lawn chairs from what was hopefully a recently cleaned shed. I don't mind spiders, I just hate having dirt on my butt. Suki and I sat next to each other.
"We'll deal you when this round ends," Claire said. A blonde promptly plopped down a card, and Claire frowned. "Which is now, apparently." She passed everyone seven cards, and a new game begin. "So, Suki, what made you do music with Sebastian?"
"Um, I gave him lyrics when his first band sucked, and then he begged me to do it, and now I like it." Suki played a blue eight, so I changed to red eight.
"Begged you?" one girl snorted. "Why?"
"He's very passionate," Suki said simply. "He really wants to be a professional musician, and get into producing once he ages out, to help some beginning artists. He has this whole big plan and talks about it all the time, but his first band made him think he had no chance."
"He definitely has a chance now," Aisha snorted. She was cooking something, so she didn't play any games. "You guys are actually really good."
"Yeah, it surprised all of us," the blonde said.
I frowned. "Surprised?"
"Well, let's be real. How many guys say 'I wanna be a popstar!' and it actually goes somewhere?" She questioned. She was right. I just didn't like how she said it. "And nobody expected that from Suki. You're really good! Have you had any vocal training?"
