Dear Diary,

After Suki ran off to get Valencia's shield (I was hoping we were on the same page about that, honestly), I began formulating a plan. The basilisk was weak to its reflection, which we had to wait on, and it was weak to weasels... which we didn't have. Its leg-up on us was speed, fire, and poison.

Water can deal with all of those.

I was the main one on the scene. The legionnaires were barely ready, but it wasn't their fault. We're training to prepare fast, and they were only gone for... I don't know, a minute and a half? That's record time for suiting up. In a minute and a half, the basilisk erupted from the ground, blew most trees on fire, Jason was incapacitated, and Suki ran off to get a magical shield. At the time, I didn't know it had been a minute and a half, and I didn't know how fast the legionnaires were gearing up. I was just trying to make sure a giant basilisk didn't kill everyone I knew.

"Hey!" I caught the monster's attention again and got in close, refusing to breathe. Just being next to it made my skin feel tight, but I was careful not to touch it like Jason. I slid my dagger along the side of it and it screamed, blood coming from the wound. At least this thing doesn't have incredibly strong armor, like some mythological snakes. It does have some other bad aspects, like its size, speed, fire, poison-

It lunged at me, but I could foresee the attack, and laid down flat on my belly. It barely missed me and I closed my eyes, refusing to breath in. My nose was running, but I couldn't tell if it was snot from the fumes or blood from the acrid odor burning me open. Either way, it wasn't a nice feeling, and it'd only get worse the longer the beast was alive.

"Over here!" I looked to the left and saw Sebastian standing strong. He banged his pilum against his shield. "Look over here, you big-" He gagged. "EWWWWWWWW!"

His armor wasn't shiny enough to reflect the basilisk unfortunately, but it did lunge. However, Sebastian is fast. He dodged, weaving in and out of the basilisks attacks, shouting a few taunts and jeers. He even got several hits in with his weapon before the tip snapped off.

"Sebastian!" I called. "We have to get it to the river!"

"Reyna, my skin burns!" he shrieked. "REYNAAAAA-"

"You can't stay close to it!" I shouted. "GET BACK!"

Sebastian listened to me and got back. Far back. He slid down the hill in a calculated manner, banging his broken pilum on his armor some more. "YOO-HOO! LET'S TAKE A SWIM!"

Then the basilisk shot into the night sky.

Everyone screamed in horror as a three-hundred foot long serpent sailed into the air, and it crashed back down head-first, diving into the earth. The hole it went into vanished, and the ground started vibrating again.

"IT'S BELOW US!" someone shrieked at the top of their lungs.

"I feel it!" I called. "Everyone, make as much noise as you can! Keep it away from the city, and guide it to the water!"

Even though I was on probatio and was technically exiled, they listened. They all banged their weapons on their armor and their shields and many ran south, while the quiet ones stood on guard for the city. I saw Terminus the statue materialize next to one and started shrieking in Latin about how it was the middle of the night and he wished the attack waited until morning, when he would be at "full" power.
