Hello again.
We began the day by gathering in front of our cohorts- armorless, mind you- and reporting to the mess hall for breakfast. The only people that talked to me and Reyna were Sebastian and Jason, because they were the only ones that believed us. Everyone else thought we were liars, frauds, or just plain pathetic.
Afterwards, we had three hours of training to look forward to; running around the fields to build our stamina, weight lifting, sparring. I sucked at almost everything, but Reyna was my partner, so she didn't make fun of me. I'm pretty sure she still found me pathetic, though.
After lunch, we had a relatively free amount of time. We decided to go to the library in the city, which Jason gave us permission to do. I like him. He's actually nice to us.
"ATTENTION!"
Reyna and I stopped rather suddenly as we stood on the outskirts of the city. Terminus, the god of boundaries, stopped before us. "Identification!"
I dug in my pocket and produced my probatio tablet, which simply says my name, age, and cohort. Reyna's says the same, and Terminus looked them over and huffed.
"Your clothes are ill-fitting," he told me. "There is a boutique about four minutes down the road and to the left!"
"Ill-fitting?" I looked down, realizing my jeans were a little bit short and my shirt was a riding up a little, but nothing was tight. "O-oh."
"No worries. You're a growing girl, and all. Should you take after your father, I expect this to happen quite often!"
Reyna looked at me. "Is your dad tall?"
I winced. "Um, that's putting it light-"
"You there!" He caught Reyna's attention. "Your ends are dead. It is wisest to trim them! There is a salon about-" He shrieked and looked to the left. "NO FAUNS ARE TO MUNCH ON THE GRASS! Girls, you are dismissed. DON!" He exploded into yellow dust and reappeared fifty yards to the left, which scared a faun named Don half out of his fur. Reyna and I snickered, and ventured into the city. We didn't have any weapons, and the only things wrong with us were relatively easy to fix.
"Should you stop by your foster house?" Reyna asked me awkwardly. "Tell her you need new pants?"
"Oh, um." I was planning to just save up enough money to buy my own clothes. I didn't want to bother Lisa. "Maybe later." I pointed forward. "Let's just go to the library."
The library was quite extensive, with many people inside. Some were children checking out Harry Potter books, or lonely women in the erotic section. That was kind of sad. But Reyna made a beeline for the monster section, grabbed about five books, and returned to the psychology section I ran to.
"Why are you here?" she asked, holding her massive books with surprising ease.
I looked for my father's name. "My father is a published psychologist. Maybe they'll have some of his books here, since he was a legionnaire and all."
"Okay," she said, nodding. "I'll be at the table closest to the wall."
"I'll also be checking their alumni section," I said, pointing. Yes, an alumni section. It is an extensive section of their famous legionnaires, almost an ode to what they could produce. It was full of autobiographies, film, simple records. I just wanted to start in the psychology section to... brace myself, I suppose. Thinking about my dad is difficult.
