Hello again.
I was shaking and shivering the whole entire week leading up to the Ludi Apollinares. I underestimated how important this festival is. It is going to be seven days long, since that is Apollo's lucky number, during the seventh month of the year. There are going to be seven contest categories; Gladiator games, chariot racing, trivia games, debate night, the music contest, the general talent show, and the craft showcase (people who build things get to enter into a contest, so they can make things like weapons or random machines for a chance at winning). Throughout the seven days would be plays. This year, they are going to just do general myths. They didn't want to do the Titanomachy since Soledad decided it was "in poor taste" which I think makes sense. I mean... people are dying.
Unfortunately, I had perhaps gotten ahead of myself. I agreed to join the trivia games because I'm good at that and three free books might be nice, but I also had to join debate duos with Sebastian because he lost a fight recently and "needs to make everything up". He's also making us enter the general talent show, since that will show everyone "we mean business" because "I lost a lotta face in that fight, bro" so... Oh, and I have been asked to perform in the play, as has Sebastian.
We are doing;
-debate duos
-talent show
-play (don't know how much yet)
-music contest
That is FOUR things together, plus me doing the trivia games, and Sebastian also doing the chariot race and gladiator games, so we are going to have a VERY bad week, I think.
Today were auditions for the play, however. They already asked Jason to play... well, Jason, initially, but there was some questions about whether or not a Greek hero was in our best interest, so Jason has now been recast as his dad, Jupiter. They are currently finding his wife, Juno, which way too many girls are interested in, since Juno is a really important goddess to us, and Jason is a very cute boy.
"I'll do it!" One offered, smiling widely. "Jason, we're friends, right?"
Jason looked at me nervously. "Her name is..."
"Sabrina."
"What about me?" another one asked. "Remember when I gave you that fruitcake that you said was... how did you put it? Like ambrosia?"
Jason leaned over to me. "Suki, isn't that the fruitcake I threw up?"
I nodded. "Yes. She's gaslighting."
So, yes. Everyone knows Jason is very cute, but goodness! I think girls are just falling all over him now that he's a praetor. He also just turned fourteen, which makes him at a funny age where sixteen year old girls think it's not that weird, but eleven and twelve year old girls are also interested. I don't know, but I find sixteen and fourteen a little bit weird? Especially when it is a girl and a boy. I think two years really depends on how old you are. I mean, 15 and 17 doesn't seem so bad, but 16 and 14 just feels like a million years.
"How are they gonna cast Juno?" Jason asked me. "Wait, I can get out of this; we get someone else to play Jupiter!"
"Um... who better than his son?"
