Dear Diary,

"Hey! HEY!" Sebastian took his baseball bat to the front door and popped off the knob. "YOU THINK YOU CAN ASSAULT SUKI AND GET AWAY WITH IT?!" I heard a girl screaming inside. Jason and I watched from across the street, cowering uncomfortably in the booth of the restaurant. All because Sebastian said, "I have to piss."

And we, like idiots, believed him.

"Where did he get the bat?" Jason whispered, covering the scene with his hand. Suki sat miserably in the seat next to him, just staring at the light above us, but I knew she was seeing something horrible in her own mind.

"He probably stashed it beforehand," I muttered, because Sebastian only plans two things; assaults, and how to disappoint his parents. "He's gonna get arrested."

"I can't do anything about it this time," Jason said helplessly. "We can't-"

I demanded, "This time?" Even Suki, slow as can be, turned her head to look at Jason. "Jason, when the-" I frowned. "That kid that got hit with the bat. That was Seb? You said you were taking care of babies!"

"I plead the fifth."

"Not valid in Rome." I swirled my fry in ketchup. Sebastian busted one of the windows. "Should we let him get arrested?"

"I have to," Jason muttered. "Either I do it personally and make myself look like a bad friend, or I pretend to ignore the scene and make myself look like a bad praetor. Tell me, which is the better option?"

"Arrest him," Suki mumbled, a band-aid still on her temple. Just looking at it made me think; Sebastian probably has the right idea. He does that sometimes. Unfortunately, he could've at least worn a mask and done it in the middle of the night as opposed to broad daylight with the too-tight skinny jeans only he wears. "He'd be more cooperative if you did it."

Jason shoved four fries in his mouth. "I'll be right back."

He left to deal with the crime, leaving Suki and I alone. I said nothing, and occasionally glanced out the window to see what was happening. Sebastian, relentless, had to be shocked by Jason's fingertips just to get pulled away from the front door, which had a massive dent in it, and with the broken knob, could no longer be opened.

"Are you going to homecoming?" Suki asked me, the question so pointless and benign, it actually managed to start a conversation.

"No. Not really my thing."

"Jason said a few boys asked you out."

"Yeah," I admitted, blushing. "I don't know. I don't like parties and I don't wear dresses."

"Mm." We watched Jason roundhouse Sebastian, knock him to the floor, then crawl on top to make the arrest. "Who asked you?"

I shrugged and listed a few random names from our classes. "I don't really know any of them. And it's not like they know me."

"You're pretty," Suki said blankly, still staring out the window. She was leaned against it, slouching, exhausted. Her hair had a big clump in the back and the darkness circling her eyes couldn't have been anything close to healthy. "Boys tend to ask out pretty girls."
