* Lewis POV *

Since Lauren H mentioned what she overheard, my thoughts have been in turmoil. Doubts are swirling inside me, stirring up old fears and insecurities I thought I had overcome. I'm questioning everything, including my judgment, and wondering if I'm repeating past mistakes. Lauren J has been my strongest connection here, providing comfort amidst this uncertainty. Hearing that she might not feel the same way hit me hard and left me deeply confused. Despite this, I can't ignore how much I enjoyed our conversation today and how drawn I am to her in unexpected ways. I need to talk to her again to clear up these doubts, but I'm afraid of confronting her. What if I'm wrong? What if I've misjudged her and jeopardized my strongest connection? The uncertainty is overwhelming and it's consuming me.

Lauren J: "Hey. What's wrong?"

Lewis: "Someone came to me earlier and said that you mentioned that despite me being a nice guy, it was hard not to have ulterior motives."

Lauren J: " What are you talking about?"

Lewis: "So it's not true?"

Lauren J: " It's not. And the fact that you believe whoever told you that says a lot."

Lewis: "I'm just asking a question because I didn't know what to think when I heard it."

(I explained, as Lauren sighed, shaking her head.)

Lauren J: " Glad to see that you're once again showing me that you're far from perfect. You got serious trust issues."

Lewis: "We all got trust issues but that's not what's going on here. I just don't want to feel like I'm being played."

Lauren J: " And now that you know you're not, what's next?"

(She asked, frustrated, as she got up to leave. Feeling desperate, I quickly reached out and gently pulled her back before she could go.)

Lewis: " Look, I'm sorry I even thought for a second that you'd say something like that."

Lauren J: " Okay"

Lewis: " Look at me"

(I gently lifted her chin to meet her eyes. In that close moment, I felt a true connection, sensing her honesty and sincerity.)

Lauren J: "I am. I just don't appreciate you ruining such a good time. I was on such a high from earlier and here you go."

Lewis: " Here I go ruining it. I'm sorry."

Lauren J: " Yeah, yeah. Whatever."

Lewis: " Don't do that."

Lauren J: " Do what?"

Lewis: " I like you a lot."

Lauren J: " You could've fooled me"

(She responded, and her words deepened my guilt. I felt awful for letting a lie linger and for being the one to ruin our first cocktail party.)

Lewis: "I do. That's why I felt so crazy when that was told to me."

Lauren J: "Okay."

Lewis: "Is that Okay, I forgive you. Because I'm truly sorry for accusing you of something like that."

Lauren J: "It is. Apology accepted Lewis."

(She whispered as I pulled her in for a lingering kiss that seemed to stretch on forever. In that intimate moment, it felt as if everything else in the world had disappeared, leaving just the two of us in our private bubble. I began to understand how deeply my feelings for Lauren J had grown, recognizing that she was becoming a significant part of my journey. At the same time, I couldn't help but worry that my earlier doubts and accusations might have pushed her away for good. Despite these fears, I was relieved that she chose to stay here.)

Lewis: "Once again, you're impeccable."

Lauren J: "And don't you ever forget it."

(She said laughing as I pulled her into a warm hug. I wouldn't have blamed her if she didn't hug me back, but I was so happy she did. We were interrupted by Alexa, who I ended up also having a great time with. The evening was filled with meaningful connections and excitement. Everyone brought something special to the night. At the end of the cocktail party, I gave the group date rose to Lauren J. It wasn't just because of our passionate moment at the cocktail party but also because of the deep conversation we had afterward. Lauren J was truly one of a kind.)
