Chapter 9

Lehar's POV

Me and Pihu went out to DMART today. We have a few party orders next week so we need to buy all the groceries needed and vegetables.

Pihu: Maa, you pick the vegetables, I will go get you the rice bag 

Me: Pihu, you wont be able to carry it

Pihu: I am strong okay ? And the aisle is just a few steps ahead

Saying that she ran, I felt my mind going berseck. It is not really safe anywhere and we need to keep an eye on the kids. Quickly putting the veggies I was holding into my cart and ran after her, I found her in the rice bag aisle and I took a breathe of relief. 

Me: Pihu, you scared me

To my shock, Pihu was talking to that suitor's mom who visited our home for a match. I gulped in fear on what she must have said to Pihu because Pihu looked sad suddenly

Me: Hello Aunty, what were you guys talking about ?

Aunty: Just catching up

I felt my heart go wild and I know I need to get Pihu out of there. Looking at Aunty's expression and Pihu's face I think Dad must have told Aunty the truth about Pihu's birth. If Aunty has spoken to Pihu then may be she must have told the truth out.

Me: We need to go Aunty, nice to see you 

Saying that, I held Pihu's hand and sought out for a calm corner where I could speak to my daughter

Me: Pihu, is everything okay ?

Pihu: Maa, tell me the truth 

Oh god, she knows the secret that I have been hiding for years

Me: What is it ?

Pihu: Maa, aunty said that I should ask you an important question about my birth. She was going to tell me a secret regarding my birth but you came so she told me to ask you itself

That lady, what did I ever do to her ?

Me: Pihu, everybody's life has a present, past and future. Your birth has a story too, I will tell you that when you are old enough to understand it. I dont want to lie to you nor I am planning of hiding the truth okay ?

Pihu: So there is a secret ?

I nodded and she thought about it 

Pihu: Fine, but when will you tell me ?

Me: As I said when you would be able to handle it

Pihu: When ?

Me: How about when you are 16 ?

Pihu: Too far, how about when I am 10 years old ?

Me: 13 ?

Pihu: Deal, but if you want to tell me the truth beforehand you can. You know I am very smart and matured even now

Me: I agree

Pihu: Maa, will the truth get us seperated ?

Me: I will never allow you to go far away from me, its a promise

Pihu: Cool, then I will wait till I am 13

I kissed her on the forehead and we went home. I saw dad reading a paper and I asked Pihu to go finish her project. She left and I went to talk to dad

Me: Dad, did you tell that lady the truth about Pihu's birth ?

Dad: Which lady ?

Me: The suitor who came home ?

He nodded 

Me: Did you know what happened today ? She met us in the market and she was about to tell Pihu the truth regarding her birth. Do you realize what would have happened if she revealed the whole story to Pihu, even before she was ready ?

Dad: I did not want them to judge you or your decisions so I told them a truth

Me: Dad, people can say whatever trash they want about me, my decisions and character. But, if somebody thinks of harming my Pihu I wont tolerate it okay ? Please talk to that lady and do whatever you can. I dont want Pihu to ever get hurt okay ?

Dad nodded but when we turned we were startled to see Raghav there, standing awkwardly. He saw and heard the conversation.

I turned away to hide my tears while dad spoke up 

Dad: I called him home for lunch as he did not set up his house yet. Hope it will be okay Leher ?

I nodded and arranged the plates and glasses on dining table. I called Pihu for lunch and her face glowed when she saw Raghav

Pihu: Raghav !! Hi !! Are you joining for lunch ?

Me: I dint want to bother but your Tatha insisted 

He said that looking straight at me while I looked on for a few seconds after which I averted his gaze

Pihu: Why will it be a bother ? Mom cooks extras daily. Come sit.

She showed a chair and to my shock, she made him sit beside me. He sat down on the chair beside me and I could smell his cologne. His cologne was very hypnotizing, I had to cough out to compose myself.

I served the 6 foot man beside me and my Pihu and dad. He started eating and gave a deep sigh 

Pihu: Raghav, what happened ?

I turned towards him at that 

Raghav: My dad side  was from South India, Tamilnadu actually. The taste matches with that place, reminds me of my paternal grand mother, thank you for making this

He held my gaze saying that

Me: No problem, I try to make different state dishes every now and then not a big deal

Saying that I focussed on my food while I saw that he was having his food very fondly. In a way I felt great to get the compliment

Raghav was leaving when I called him 

Me: Whatever you heard before the lunch 

Raghav: Will be between us, although if you need someone to talk about it then you can talk to me 

Me: You are a stranger, I just met you now and I know nothing about you to share life stories. Thank you for not talking about what you over heard, it is appreciated.

I started walking away 

Raghav: Lehar ?

I turned towards him 

Raghav:  Hope whatever emotions you are holding, you will get relief from that

Saying that he ran up the stairs
