Lehar POV

I woke up earlier today to see if my dad and Lakshmi needed any help with the decoration but to my suprise they already finished with all the decorations. The have decorated the whole hall with real flowers and garlands.

Me: I thought we were going to use reusable decorations like ribbons, fairy lights and balloons.

Dad: We thought about it but the thing is I thought we should do something different this time

Me: Okay

Lakshmi has already put the cake to bake. Wow, both of them are way ahead of me in the birthday planning. I went to my room to finish my shower and get dressed so that I can cook an offering to god for the small prayer I was planning to do for Pihu.

I wore a saree for the prayer and started cooking the prasad/prasdam. I was making a sweetened rice pudding which even Pihu likes too. I even garnished it with lots of dry fruits on the top and started making arrangements for the small prayer.

When it was time, we all went in to her room. This time I did not pull her blanket nor I switched off the fan. We all simply sang the happy birthday song and she slowly uncovered her face with a big toothy smile

Pihu: Mamma, thank you

Dad: What about us ? We are also there

Pihu: Oops sorry, thank you tatha, thank you Lakshmi

Me: This is not how you thank us, you hug us as a thank you

Pihu gladly jumped on her Tatha and he caught her in his arms kissing her cheek. Then she went into Lakshmi's arms. I asked her to get ready soon so that we could start her prayers, once she wore her new long frock she looked like a Princess. I got her ready and made her sit for the prayer. I rushed to the prayer. After that we cut the cake and fed that with the sweet pudding

Pihu: Yummy, mom you are the best cook, if you were not a cook already I would say cooking is your calling

I shook my head at her banter and she finished the whole cup of the sweet. She went to school today with little bit of more excitement, she took chocolates and cut cake pieces. These kids really love to celebrate birthdays in school.

After dropping Pihu I bought all the groceries for evening dinner party and started making preparations for it. As we are vegetarians I made Veg Biryani, Raita and I made Baby corn 65 as the starter.  I got lots of ice creams cups and juices too.

We arranged the other cake cutting in the garden and decorated it with fairy lights. We even switched on the lamps with lavender essential oils to avoid mosquito bites. Later, I called Pihu's friends and families for the party.

Today was packed, thank god I already bought the gift which Pihu liked. Pihu came back excited and she changed into a simple evening gown so that she can have fun, dad was taking pictures since mornings, so he captured both the looks of her's. My Pihu looked like a Princess in morning and an angel in the evening.

Pihu's friends came before time and we cut the cake. We all made them play musical chairs and charades after which we served them food. Everybody had a lot of fun and my Pihu got tired by the end.

As it was Pihu's birthday today, the teachers did not give her any homework for today so we can chill for one day. I fed her dinner and she slept in my arms. I put her on her own bed and walked out to the garden.

Lakshmi and Dad already cleaned the area mostly but the fairy lights were still hanging. I sat down on the steps and looked up in the sky.

Me: You saw the celebrations today ? It was beautiful right ? Thank you so much love that because of you, I got a special gift like Pihu. Wish you were here to see her and bless her, hope you did that from the sky.

Suddenly, it started drizzling. I ran to get the dried clothes from the terrace and while I was rushing down I felt somebody's eyes on me. I thought I was imagining it and rushed inside with the clothes.

Dad: You are drenched

Me: Yeah, it was a sudden rain

I put those clothes to dry on the dining table chairs under the fan and sat down beside dad who was listening to old hindi songs, he was for sure missing mom. He hears those old songs to remember her.

Me: You miss her

Dad: Everyday, I miss her.  We married young but since I saw her I was a puppet in front of her beauty. I am not only talking about how beautiful she was externally, I am talking about how gorgeous she was internally. I found that in the 1st few weeks of our marraige. She was my soulmate.

Me: I am sorry dad, I made wrong decisions which changed the course of my life but I was also the reason why you were not able to be beside mom in the last few days of her life.

Dad: I was angry and blamed you for all the irrelavant things. She got sick way before that and in a way I am glad I did not see her in the last days. Your grand mom tells me it was a heart breaking sight.

The decisions you took you are bearing the fruits of it alone, so I cant really complain. Since Pihu came, you took care of her alone. Without a degree you have managed to earn a living which pays for her education, her hobbies and her lifestyle. Yes, I am sad that you are all alone in this age but I am so proud that even while being all alone you stand strong.

Me: you are proud of me ?

Dad: I was dissapointed yes, but I will always be proud. You are the best mom, I am saying that after I saw how happy Pihu was today.

Me: Thank you dad

Dad: Go sleep, its late. Oh, sleep in tommorow, its weekend.

I nodded and started walking to my room when I heard dad calling my name

Dad: I hope you are as happy in every way as Pihu was today. Being a mom is beautiful but I bless you today that you get to experience love and companionship, its beautiful ...

I smiled but I know no one wants a single mother and even if they do every body has their own selfish reasons for it. Love is for only the blessed ones others just bear repuccusions of being in love. Pihu is the product of that, although a repuccusion, she turned out to be a miracle.
