Name me something beautiful. It can be a person, a thing, an animal. Anything.
Now tell me, can you see anything vicious about this something beautiful? At all?
Although some may say yes to that question, most will say no. And here's why, when we look at someone or something we deem beautiful, our mind blurs out the bad. We can't see it. Sometimes we do, but by the time we do, it's too late.
I'll reference The landlady story for this one.
The landlady is a story written by Roald Dahl. In the story, a young man is told to go straight to the bell and dragon. While on his way, a cozy little place catches his eye. He finds the place cozy enough to stay at besides all its red flags. He doesn't catch them. Not until it's too late.
You know, I think this could fit the current situation pretty well.
He seemed so happy all the time. I guess I automatically assumed he was. I never would have guessed something was wrong until now.
I noticed it. But it was too late.
Mr. Weaver noticed the landlady had evil intentions, but he had already drank the poisoned tea. It was too late.
All good things have a downside. Some can be more mild than others, but be aware.
Life is beautiful, you know. But with all the death and war in the world? That could be a vicious thing.
Everything has a predator inside it. Be aware. Love. Spread nothing but love.
Find the beautiful in everything, keep the dark in mind.
Every rose has its thorns.
