What makes a leader? Children will say things that they've been taught, such as, "Respect!" Maybe, "Maturity!" You know, those are pretty good qualities. You gotta give to those kids.
One thing I've noticed over the years is how the answers changed. They quit being silly little one word answers to people.
Most of those people that the answers turn into are the people who made the biggest impact on our lives. You know, it's kind of funny to me, even if that is our answer, we don't seem to say it out loud. We never say their name when asked the question, "What makes a leader?"
Some people may say, "Well, that's because my answer isn't a person." I can almost guarantee you it is. You might not know it because sometimes you do it absentmindedly. Anytime you answer the question, you have a specific person in mind. You are describing that person.
I want to know why even I don't say his name. I think I just don't want to explain with his context out loud. It hurts to know that the leaders in my life are leaving.
I think the best way to know who the leaders are in your life is the way you think about them even when they've passed on. I like to think about his amazing qualities and put them to work in my own life.
Leaders aren't a quality.
Leaders are the people with the best ability to keep peace while being good people.
Leaders leave a legacy for years.
