Jimin took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "I've been trying, Yoongi. I've been trying so hard to be better, to be the partner you deserve. But it feels like it's not enough."
Yoongi's brow furrowed, his frustration evident. "It's not about being better, Jimin. It's about us. About our relationship."
Jimin nodded, his heart sinking. "I know, and I want us to work. I want us to be happy."
"Then why do I feel the opposite." Yoongi asked, his voice tinged with a mixture of hurt and exasperation.
Jimin struggled to find the right words, the weight of Yoongi's words settling heavily on his shoulders. "I don't know," he admitted quietly. "I've been... distracted."
"Distracted?" Yoongi repeated, his tone incredulous. "Jimin, we've been through so much together. We've built a life, dreams... I thought we were in this together."
"I need to go for a walk, don't wait for me though." Yoongi sighed before he grabbed his wallet and keys then left.
The next day, while Jimin sat in the break room of the company, his fingers wrapped around a mug of lukewarm coffee. The room buzzed with activity as employees moved in and out, but Jimin's mind was elsewhere. Across the table from him sat his closest friends, Taehyung and Jin, who had noticed his recent struggles and insisted on talking.
"I feel so lost, guys," Jimin admitted, his voice barely above a whisper as he stared into his untouched cup of coffee.
Taehyung leaned forward, a concerned look on his face. "I mean, who's that Jungkook anyway? Is he even more handsome than Yoongi hyung?" he asked, attempting to lighten the mood with a playful tone.
Jin, ever the voice of reason, chimed in, "It's fine, Jimin. It might just be a crush. It will fade away eventually."
Jimin shook his head, his eyes clouded with confusion. "I think not... He's been my crush since college."
"Oh, that's sweet," Taehyung said with a hint of amusement, "but you're now engaged to Yoongi hyung"
"Yeah..." Jimin sighed deeply, his mind drifting back to the many moments he had shared with both men.
"It's just a crush. What could possibly go wrong?" Taehyung giggled, trying to insert some humor into the conversation.
Jin, sensing the need for a change of topic, suggested, "Hey, do you guys want to grab some ice cream later after this? My treat!"
Jimin managed a weak smile, appreciating their efforts to distract him. "Sure, why not?" he replied, though his heart wasn't fully in it.
As they finished their conversation, the office's atmosphere continued to buzz around them, but Jimin couldn't shake the heaviness in his chest. His thoughts were clouded with memories of Jungkook and the undeniable tension growing between him and Yoongi.
Returning to his studio, Jimin tried to refocus on his work, but the distraction was evident. His productivity had taken a hit, and he knew Yoongi had noticed.
Jimin sat at his desk, staring at the computer screen. He had been trying to concentrate all morning, but his thoughts were a tangled mess. Taehyung and Jin's attempt to cheer him up had helped a little, but the underlying problem remained unresolved.
As he finished his work, Jimin decided to try and talk to Yoongi. He made his way to Yoongi's office, the familiar path feeling unusually long and daunting. When he reached the door, he took a deep breath before knocking gently.
"Come in," Yoongi's voice called out, calm but distant.
Jimin opened the door and stepped inside, forcing a smile. "Hey, love. Got a minute?"
