Jungkook sat on the edge of the bed, a half-empty bottle of alcohol clutched tightly in his hand. His gaze was fixed intently on the bare wall before him, as if it held the answers to the turmoil raging within. Just yesterday, Hoseok had made a call to his cousin Namjoon, seeking clarity about Iseul's job.
Hoseok dialed Namjoon's number, hoping to get some clarity about Iseul's abrupt departure from her job. After a few rings, Namjoon finally answered.
"Hey, Namjoon, it's Hoseok. I've got a quick question for you," Hoseok began, his tone serious.
"Hey, Hoseok! sure, ask me," Namjoon replied casually.
"Do you remember Jeon Iseul from your company? She worked there until recently," Hoseok asked, getting straight to the point.
There was a pause on the other end as Namjoon seemed to rack his brain. "Oh, Iseul. Yeah, I remember her. Why? What about her?"
"Well, I heard she got fired recently. Can you confirm what happened?" Hoseok inquired, trying to sound nonchalant.
Namjoon chuckled softly. "Fired? No, she didn't get fired. She actually quit."
Hoseok's brows furrowed in confusion. "She quit? That's strange. Any particular reason why?"
Namjoon hesitated for a moment before replying, "Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. She mentioned something about needing a change and wanting to focus on personal matters. Said the job wasn't fulfilling her anymore."
Hoseok's suspicions rose slightly. "Personal matters, huh? That's vague. Do you think there's something more to it?"
Namjoon sighed on the other end. "I don't know. I don't want to speculate, but it did seem sudden. I hope everything is alright with her."
Hoseok processed the information, feeling a knot form in his stomach. "I see... Thanks for letting me know, Namjoon. I appreciate it."
"No problem, Hoseok. If there's anything else, just give me a call," Namjoon offered before saying goodbye and ending the call.
The words echoed in Jungkook's ears now, adding another layer of confusion and disappointment to his already troubled thoughts.
He had believed that Iseul's harsh behavior towards him was somehow justified by her job loss, but now it seemed she had chosen to leave on her own terms.
Sitting there in the dim light of the room, Jungkook wrestled with a mix of emotions. Hurt from Iseul's treatment, betrayal over her manipulations, and now the realization that she hadn't been entirely truthful about her employment status. It all compounded into a heavy burden on his heart, leaving him feeling adrift and uncertain about his future with Iseul.
He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair as he tried to make sense of it all. The truth was clear now, and Jungkook knew he couldn't ignore it any longer.
His relationship with Iseul had reached a breaking point, and he needed to confront the reality of their situation, no matter how painful it might be.
Jungkook then remembered that Jimin told him to message him when he needed someone to talk to. He didn't want to be a burden, but he couldn't do it alone right now. He reached for his phone, his fingers trembling slightly as he composed a message.
Jungkook: Hey, hyung. I know you're busy, but if you have some time, could you come over? I really need to talk to someone.
He hesitated for a moment before hitting send, the anxiety of reaching out for help gnawing at him. Within seconds, his phone buzzed with a reply.
Jimin hyung: Of course, Jungkook. I'll be there as soon as I can.
Jimin then arrived after only ten minutes, holding a bag of takeout. He knew that whenever Jungkook cried, he wouldn't eat, and Jimin wanted to ensure his best friend had something to sustain him.
