Jungkook arrived home that night, the weight of the day's events still heavy on his shoulders. He sighed, glancing around the empty house that felt more like a shell than a home. His thoughts drifted back to Jimin, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
Jungkook had just opened the garage to grab his car keys when he paused. A thought struck him: why not stay at Jimin's place for a while? It made sense. Being around Jimin made everything feel easier, less suffocating. He decided to pack a bag with some clothes, planning to spend the next few days with Jimin.
He went upstairs to his bedroom and pulled out a duffel bag, starting to gather his things. As he moved around the room, his phone buzzed. He picked it up and saw a message from
Jimin: "Hey Kookie! I just got home. I'll cook for us so no need to buy take outs before you come here!"
Jungkook's heart warmed, and he couldn't help but smile. Just as he was about to put his phone down, another notification caught his eye.
It was a message from the bank. His stomach dropped as he read it:
Alert: $50,000 withdrawn from your joint account.
His hands shook slightly as he clicked on the message for more details. Iseul had been using the joint account to withdraw large sums of money, apparently living in a hotel for some time now.
Jungkook's grip tightened around his phone, a wave of anger and frustration washing over him. How could she? After everything they had been through, how could she continue to hurt him even now?
But then, he remembered Jimin's message. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He couldn't let Iseul ruin this moment, this chance for something better. He forced himself to focus on Jimin's words and the promise of a warm meal and comforting company.
Jungkook finished packing his bag, shoving in clothes fast. He took a final look around the room, a place filled with too many painful memories, and then headed downstairs. He couldn't wait to leave it all behind, even if just for a little while.
As he drove to Jimin's apartment, his thoughts kept returning to the message from the bank. Iseul had always been reckless with money, but this was a new low.
He felt a mixture of betrayal and relief. Betrayal because she was still finding ways to hurt him, and relief because he was finally starting to see her for who she truly was.
When he pulled into Jimin's driveway, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. The warm, inviting light spilling out from the windows felt like a beacon, guiding him to safety. He grabbed his bag and headed inside, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door.
Jimin opened the door with a bright smile. "Kookie! Come in. I just started cooking."
Jungkook stepped inside, the familiar and comforting scent of Jimin's cooking instantly putting him at ease. "Thanks, hyung. I really needed this."
Jimin's smile softened, and he gave Jungkook a reassuring pat on the back. "Anytime, Kook. You know that."
As they moved to the kitchen, Jungkook couldn't help but feel a sense of peace. Despite everything that had happened, he was here, with Jimin, he felt like things might actually be okay.
He set his bag down in the corner and joined Jimin by the stove, the tension in his body slowly melting away with each passing moment.
They worked side by side in the kitchen, their movements synchronized in a way that spoke to their years of friendship. Jimin chopped vegetables while Jungkook stirred a pot on the stove. The sound of their quiet laughter filled the room, mingling with the clinking of utensils and the sizzling of food.
"Did you pack enough clothes?" Jimin asked, glancing over at Jungkook with a teasing smile.
Jungkook chuckled. "Probably not. I was in a hurry."
Jimin shook his head, laughing softly. "Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you need. I've got plenty of space."
Jungkook looked at Jimin, smiling. "Thanks, hyung. Really. It means a lot."
Jimin waved him off, but his eyes were warm. "Don't mention it. We're family, right?"
Jungkook nodded, a genuine smile spreading across his face. "Yeah, we are."
As they finished preparing dinner, Jungkook felt a sense of calm settle over him. Despite the chaos and pain that had filled his life recently, there was still hope, as long as the older is by his side.
After they ate, Jungkook offered to do the dishes while Jimin took a shower. Standing at the sink, he felt his phone buzz again.
For a moment, his heart raced, fearing more bad news. But when he saw it was a simple check-in from Hoseok, he relaxed. Hoseok had always been there for him.
Jungkook replied to Hoseok, assuring him that he was okay and thanking him for everything. As he put his phone down, he thought about how far they had all come.
Just as he finished the dishes, Jimin emerged from the shower, his hair damp and his face glowing. "Your turn, Kook."
Jungkook nodded, feeling a sense of peace. "Thanks, Jimin. I won't be long."
As he headed to the bathroom, he glanced back at Jimin, who just finished tidying up the kitchen, humming softly to himself.
Jimin, on the other hand, couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that Jungkook was here with him. However, he noticed a distant look in Jungkook's eyes, indicating that something was still weighing on his mind.
"Jungkook," Jimin called gently, snapping him out of his thoughts. "Are you okay? You look like you're thinking about something."
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "I got a notification from the bank earlier. Iseul withdrew $50,000 from our joint account. She's been living in a hotel for some time now."
Jimin's expression darkened slightly. "Which hotel?"
Jungkook looked at him, confused. "Marriot Hotel, why do you want to know?"
Instead of answering, Jimin walked over and wrapped his arms around Jungkook in a comforting hug. "I'm so sorry, Jungkook. I know it's a lot to process right now. But don't worry about her. You're here, and that's what matters."
Jungkook leaned into Jimin's embrace. "Thanks, hyung. I don't know what I'd do without you."
For a moment, they stood there, just holding each other. Jimin's heart ached for Jungkook, he feels like he needs to protect him from any more pain. Whatever Iseul was doing, they would deal with it together.
As the evening progressed, Jimin's resolve only grew stronger. He would visit Iseul at the Marriott hotel tomorrow. He needed to see how much of a gold digger she had become and put an end to her manipulative behavior. Jimin had spent years covering for his sister's mistakes, but this was too much. The moment she stole his fiancé, Yoongi, had been the breaking point.
Jimin loved his sister, but it was time to face the reality of who she had become. He had to protect himself and Jungkook from further harm. Tomorrow, he would confront Iseul and take the first step in reclaiming their lives.
