As Jimin’s parents busied themselves with preparations in the kitchen, Jimin saw an opportunity to check in on Jungkook. He found him sitting on the edge of the couch, staring blankly at his phone.
"Jungkook," Jimin said softly, sitting down beside him. "Are you okay? What happened with Iseul?"
Jungkook looked up, his eyes weary and filled with frustration. He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. "Iseul...she's been really hard on me lately, Jimin. She keeps saying that I'm not a good enough husband, that I need to do better."
Jimin frowned, concern etched on his face. "Why would she say that again? I lectured her last night! You've always been so dedicated to her."
Jungkook shook his head, his expression pained. "I don't know. She says it's because she loves me and knows what's best for me. But it feels like nothing I do is ever enough. She told me today that if I made more money, she wouldn't have to work and everything would be fine."
Jimin felt a surge of anger on his friend's behalf. "That's not fair, Jungkook. You're working so hard already. She shouldn't put all that pressure on you."
Jungkook's eyes welled up with tears. "Iseul also said that the way I've been trying to cheer her up lately has been annoying. She wants me to get angry, to shout at her, but I can't. I don't have it in me to do that."
Just then, Jimin's mother called from the kitchen. "Jimin, Jungkook, could you help us with something in here?"
Jimin gave Jungkook a reassuring pat on the back. "Come on, let's go help. Maybe keeping busy will help take your mind off things for a bit."
Jimin's father looked up from his seat at the kitchen table, his eyes serious. "You know, we might be getting old, but we're not blind," he said, his voice steady but filled with concern.
Jimin and Jungkook exchanged uneasy glances. "W-what do you mean, Dad?" Jimin stuttered, trying to keep his voice even.
Mr. Park set down his cup of tea and leaned forward, his gaze piercing. "I mean both of you are having problems with your relationships," he replied, glancing between his son and Jungkook.
Jimin felt a rush of anxiety. "Dad, it’s not—"
Mr. Park held up a hand to stop him. "Iseul leaving like that, Jungkook looking like he hasn't slept in days, Yoongi being mentally occupied by something else, and you, Jimin, with that forced smile. Your mother and I can see that something isn't right."
Mrs. Park stepped closer, her expression soft but firm. "We’re worried about you all. You've always been close, and we've seen how much you care for each other. But it's clear you're all struggling."
Jimin sighed, feeling the weight of his parents' concern. "It’s complicated, Dad. Yoongi and I… we’ve been distant lately. And I know Jungkook and Iseul are having a tough time too."
Jungkook nodded slowly, his shoulders slumping. "It's been really hard, Mr. Park. Iseul... she's been different for weeks now. She blames me for everything, and I don't know how to fix it."
Mr. Park gave a sympathetic nod. "Marriage and relationships are never easy, boys. They take a lot of work, understanding, and sometimes, it’s about weathering the storm together."
Mrs. Park added, "You both need to remember that it’s okay to ask for help. Whether it’s talking to each other, seeking advice from friends or family, or even professional counseling, it’s important to take steps to address these issues."
Jimin felt a lump in his throat. "We appreciate it, Mom, Dad. We really do."
Jungkook managed a small, grateful smile. "Thank you for understanding. It means a lot to know we have your support."
