"How about we make breakfast together?" Jimin suggested, his eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and tenderness.
Jungkook nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "I'd love that."
They moved to the kitchen, a space filled with memories of late-night snacks and shared meals. Today, though, it felt different, more intimate and special. Jimin opened the fridge, pulling out eggs, bacon, and vegetables.
"Let's make an omelet," he said, handing Jungkook some ingredients. "You chop the veggies, and I'll whisk the eggs."
Jungkook took the cutting board and knife, starting to slice the bell peppers and onions. As he worked, he glanced over at Jimin, who was expertly cracking eggs into a bowl. The domesticity of the moment felt comforting and right.
"Remember that time in college when we tried to make pancakes and ended up setting off the smoke alarm?" Jungkook chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement.
Jimin laughed, shaking his head. "How could I forget? I think we ended up ordering takeout because we couldn't salvage the pancakes."
"But we had fun," Jungkook added, his smile softening. "We always had fun together, even when things didn't go as planned."
Jimin nodded, his expression turning thoughtful. "That's what I love about us, Jungkook. No matter what happens, we always find a way to make the best of it."
As they continued preparing breakfast, the kitchen filled with the aroma of sizzling bacon and sautéing vegetables. Jungkook handed Jimin the chopped veggies, and Jimin skillfully mixed them into the whisked eggs.
Jungkook watched, his heart swelling with affection. "You're really good at this, you know."
Jimin blushed slightly, his cheeks tinged with pink. "I've had a lot of practice. Cooking helps me relax."
Jungkook stepped closer, his hand resting on Jimin's back. "Well, I think it's amazing. And I love doing this with you."
They worked in harmony, moving around the kitchen with a natural ease that spoke of years of friendship and unspoken understanding. When the omelet was ready, they plated it together, adding some fresh fruit on the side.
"Looks delicious," Jimin said, admiring their handiwork.
Jungkook grinned. "It does. Let's eat."
They sat down at the small kitchen table, their knees touching under the tablecloth. As they dug into their breakfast, the conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and shared memories. Every now and then, their eyes would meet, and the unspoken bond between them would deepen.
Jungkook reached across the table, taking Jimin's hand in his. "Thank you, Jimin. For everything. For being there for me, for loving me."
Jimin squeezed his hand, his eyes shimmering with emotion. "You're thanking me too much, but I'll always be here for you."
After breakfast, the kitchen was filled with the sounds of running water and clinking dishes as Jimin and Jungkook cleaned up together. Their movements were in sync, reflecting the deep connection they had always shared. As they dried the last dish and put it away, Jimin leaned against the counter, his eyes distant.
Jungkook noticed the shift in Jimin's attitude. "Hey, what's on your mind?"
Jimin hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I'm glad Yoongi broke off our engagement the night Iseul and he left."
Jungkook looked at him, surprised. "You're glad?"
Jimin nodded slowly, his gaze steady. "Yes. It hurt like hell at the time, but now... I see it differently. If Yoongi hadn't ended things, I'd still be trying to make something work that was never right for me. And I would've never had the courage to face my feelings for you."
