Chapter 26: Longing

They said, that if two souls were meant for each other, no matter how long they got separated, a year or even decades, destiny would give way for them to meet again at the right time and the right place, even in the afterlife or their next life.

The right person will always come back to you if they truly love you, no matter what it takes. Even to stand against the whole world just to be in your arms again.

And if they didn't come back to you, then they aren't meant for you. Maybe the heavens just allowed you to meet them to be your experiences or lessons in life because they are meant for someone else from the beginning. And we have to accept that even if it hurts. At least we learned, right?

And one day you will be surprised that the unexpected person you were not searching for will suddenly arrive in your life.

We need to move forward. We always need to take a step away.

Ganoon pala talaga kapag pumasok ka sa isang relasyon, ano? Marami kang bagay na matutuklasan. You will learn things you never knew were existing. You will learn to be more mature.

You will learn to prepare yourself to be tough, na ihanda ang sarili mong maubos sa mga bagay na pagdadaanan mo. Not only for fighting but also for sacrifice. To do what is right even though it's gonna end your heart.

You will learn to understand that there are times when we need to give up on something that we love the most to ease the heaviness in our hearts.

You will learn to be mature enough to realize that you will not always experience happiness in love. There are problems, conflicts, and challenges that will test your strength.

Matututunan mong bumitaw sa isang bagay na gustong-gusto mong panghawakan habang buhay.

Matututunan mong bumitaw dahil masakit na. Matututunan mong sumuko dahil nakakapagod na.

I've learned a lot of new things after meeting Leon. May mga bagay akong natuklasan sa sarili ko that I never know existed in me before. Mas nakilala ko pa ang sarili ko dahil sa kaniya.

And even to finally learn how to decide for myself. For everyone. For him. For the better.

A massive and risky decision that I didn't know I could do.

"Lustina! Lustina!" 

Bahagyang kumunot ang noo ko at napaangit nang maramdaman ang pangangalay ng aking batok. Inangat ko and aking ulo para makita ang nakangiti at nagmamadaling si Alyssa. 

"Wake up! Bilis! You need to see this!" 

Pilit niyang hinihila ang aking braso kaya naman kahit pagod at inaantok pa ako ay hinayaan ko siyang kaladkarin ako patungo sa sala ng making condominium. 

"Tingnan mo! Nasa balita ka na! And guess what? Some of the biggest designer here in Paris will be guesting for your upcoming fashion show!" Anunsyo niya na ikinalaki ng aking mga mata. 

Pakiramdam ko tuloy ay biglang nawala ang aking antok at napalitan ito ng gulat habang pinapanood ko and balita sa TV kung saan inaanunsyo nila ang upcoming fashion week. Doon ay nabanggit ang tungkol sa fashion show na gaganapin sa venue na ilang buwan na rin naming pinaghahandaan ni Alyssa.  

"Oh my god!" Napatili ako sa tuwa habang nagtatatalon, hawak ang mga kamay ni Alyssa at sabay na pinapanood ang balita. 

"See?! I told you! They are gonna notice you!" She chuckled cheerfully as she shaked my arms. "Your works and designs are fabulous that they can attract even the most popular designers in the world! Wala ka kasing bilib sa sarili mo, eh."
