Chapter 31: Get Away
After a brief moment of being trapped in the past, the sounds of thunder booming over the completely dark sky snapped me back to where I was.
I swallowed before returning my gaze back to the modern house in front of me.
He's still wearing the same clothes as before. But he looked like he had just woken up from a nap because of his tired and cold eyes as he looked at me. Bahagya ring magulo ang kaniyang buhok.
Inayos ko ang sarili ko.
I don't want him to think that I was reminiscing about everything about us seconds ago just because of what I saw.
"How long have you been here? Why didn't you come inside?"
He even looked at me from head to toe, probably trying to read me when I failed to give him an immediate response.
"I just... Arrived. " I cleared my throat which made his eyebrow rise up as if he wasn't buying my answer.
Kumalabog ang puso ko. I suddenly felt the urge to just leave this place or else I'll end up with tears.
"Here's your wallet. I found it in my bathroom." I handed him the black purse immediately, trying to find a way to change the topic and just leave.
He gives me a quick but confused glance before accepting his purse from my hands.
"Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm sorry for interrupting your night." He gave me a small nod, still not removing his gaze from my eyes until they darted on my arms.
Napatingin rin ako roon. The confusion that was bothering me just a second ago was replaced with anxiety and fear when I realized the sleeves of my clothes were now revealing my wrist. Exposing the old marks.
I started to get panic.
Shit.
Shit!
He didn't notice it, did he? No. he did! He did see it!
"Aalis na ako. Kailangan ko na bumalik ng hotel." Paalam ko, trying to change the atmosphere between us.
His large calloused hand taken over my small wrist made me almost stumble. I turned my head around to face him again with surprise on my face, didn't expect his action.
"What did you do?"
"What did I do?"
