-Six Months Later-
"Okay, so the Trojan War was fought between Troy and Greeks in the... uh-"
"Twelfth or thirteenth century." I corrected my boyfriend, as we studied in his room.
"Ugh, I was gonna say ninth," he shrugged.
"Don't worry." I scooted my chair right next to his desk, where he sat. "We've got a few days before finals."
Our second year at Aldera Junior High School was coming to an end, which meant finals were at the end of this week. I usually studied alone, which is why Izuku invited me over to his place to study.
"You're right, give me another question." He always looks so cute when he's determined.
"Do you want me to switch subjects?" I asked. "We've been at history for the past fifty-five minutes."
"Really, that long? Yeah, I guess so."
"Okay, how about physics then." I grabbed my duck folder, before taking out my pages and pages of notes. "Is rust a physical or chemical change?"
"Oh, that's easy: chemical."
"Correct."
"Let me find a harder one." I flipped to pages from the beginning of the year. "What's the standard PH level for-" My phone ringing interrupted me. I sighed, once I saw that the caller ID was 'Old Bitch' (the Chairwoman). "Sorry, I need to take this."
"Alright, I'll go grab us some water from the kitchen."
After he left the room, I answered my phone. "What do you want?"
"That's no way to speak with me, young lady!"
"Sorry, ma'am."
"That's better. I'm sending you the address now. Someone just kidnapped an eight-year-old girl and is holding her hostage."
"I know I'm not supposed to question my missions, but can't this be handled by the police?"
"No, the kidnapper has a shooting quirk from what we can tell. You're the best candidate for the job."
"Alright, I'll be there in like thirty minutes."
"Thirty? But you only live fifteen minutes away from the address!"
"Yeah, but I'm at my friend's house." The last thing the Commission needs to know is that I have a boyfriend.
"Fine, just hurry it up."
I hung up on her. "Why can't she be the one to get kidnapped?"
Izuku came back into the room, holding two glasses of water, as I threw my bag over my shoulder.
"Leaving already?" He frowned, before I walked up to him, giving him a kiss.
"Sorry, my brother wants me home for dinner," I lied. No one else can know about my relation to the Safety Commission. I already took a risk with Katsumi, and I can't afford to do it again. It's safer for him if I keep my job to myself.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then." Izuku walked me to the door, before placing another kiss on my lips. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
-Thirty Minutes Later-
Well, I made it. It's such a hassle to get a wig on in such a rush. Especially when there's glue involved. I formed the gun on my elbow, as I stayed in the cover of the shadows. The address led me to an abandoned house near a bunch of old factory buildings. This place isn't creepy at all.
*BANG* A gold piece of metal was shot at me, which I barely managed to dodge. Wow, if I was standing a little bit more to the left, then that shot would've taken my head off. Flex Tape (or my quirk) can't fix that. A small wound opened up on my cheek but disappeared as quick as it appeared.
"Well, looks like it's gonna be sniper versus sniper."
After analyzing the direction of the shot in my head, I determined that it came from the second closest factory on the right side. That was my destination.
Busting open the door, I was met with nothing, or so I thought. The sniper had a handgun, firing three shots, which all landed in the door as I slammed it.
"Haha, as if I'm gonna let a little girl beat me!" The man laughed.
While he was gloating inside, I slit my palm on my non-dominant hand, using the blood to create a rope. After quickly hoisting myself on top of the building, I used the roof entrance to get in, appearing behind the man.
"Have fun crying about it in jail."
After making sure I had a clear shot, I mentally pulled the trigger, lodging the needle-like bullet into the man's spinal cord before he even had the chance to turn around. Just as it happens every other time, the man collapsed, and I tied him up. Well, I have like five minutes to find the girl. Chances are that this guy was dumb enough to keep her in the same building.
First, I called the police to anonymously report the sniper. Maybe it would've been smarter to find the hostage first. Luckily, I found the poor girl, shaking underneath the staircase. She had light blonde hair and green eyes. Her pink nightgown was dirty from the residue that littered the floor.
Using my pocketknife, I cut the rope around the girl's torso.
"Are you alright?" I held out my hand for her to take.
"W-who are you?" She asked, as her voice shook with fear.
"I'm Lady Hecate," I smiled. "I'm here to help you."
"Y-you're a hero?"
"Sure, you could say that."
I stayed with the girl until I heard the sirens and saw the police lights. Kneeling down to her, I patted her head.
"Stay here and do what the police tell you." I began to head up the stairs. "They'll get you back safe and sound to your parents."
"Why don't you stay?" She asked with her puppy dog eyes.
"I'm sorry dear, but the police and I don't get along too well," I admitted. "You'll understand one day, when you learn what a vigilante is."
"A vigilante?"
"Yup, that's me, kid." I looked back at her one last time." Maybe we'll meet again someday-"
"Ayumu."
"Don't get into too much trouble, Ayumu."
I left the rest to the police. The girl was returned home, and the bad guy was detained. I'd consider that a job well done.
