I knew that they'd pull some cheap trick to put the first-place winners at a disadvantage.
"Izuku Midoriya placed first in the qualifier. He'll be worth ten million!" Midnight explained. "First years, these are the rules that you'll abide by: The game itself will last 15 minutes. Individual point values will be added together to reach your team total. Everyone will know how much you're worth thanks to your headbands. Swipe as many headbands as you can to raise your team's score. Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up. So, the more you steal, the harder it'll be to manage them. Even if your headband gets stolen or your team falls down, you can keep playing until time's up."
That doesn't seem too hard. Me and Katsumi got this in the bag- Looking over to my right, I saw her hovering beside Bakugo. I probably should've expected those two to team up, considering how close they've gotten in school. Now that I think about it, I never really see those two apart unless Katsumi is hanging out with me or we're in class.
"You may use your quirks as much as you'd like, but there are still rules!" Midnight continued. "Make a team fall on purpose and I'll slap you with a red card. You'll be disqualified! Now, you've got 15 minutes to build your teams. I recommend you get started."
Mineta came up to me, asking if I'd be his partner. Well, more like begging. Flashing him an angry glare, I told him to get lost. While I was distracted by the miniature pervert, Izuku was asking around for people to join his group, most of them saying no.
He was totally freaking out as I approached him. "You alright?"
"(Y/n)," he smiled as he turned to face me. "Shouldn't you be picking people for your team?"
"Yeah, I came over here to recruit you," I chuckled.
"Hey, Deku! (Y/n)!" A brunette came running over to us. "Let's team up!"
"Are you two sure?!" Tears gushed out of his eyes like two water fountains. "Everyone will be after me and my ten million stupid points! Tell me you're not kidding!"
"If we run away the whole time, then we'll win, right?" Ochaco concluded.
"Yeah, plus my quirk is perfect for defense, so that helps," I added.
"Uh, you're either overestimating me or underestimating everyone else here." The waterworks mostly stopped as the green haired boy looked at us.
"Anyway, it's better to team up with people you like!" Ochaco blushed.
"Yeah, unlike that backstabber, Katsumi!" I pouted.
After giving me a questionable glance, Izuku regained his spark. "Actually, I wanted to team up with you two, as well. You're right. For a game that requires so much teamwork, it's smart to find people you communicate smoothly with. In fact, if we had both of your quirks and one other person... You know what, I think I might have a solid plan."
"Lead the way." I gestured to my boyfriend, as he led us over to Iida.
"Iida." He called out, causing the taller boy to face us. "The four of us would be horses with Iida in the front. Using Uraraka's quirk, Iida, (Y/n), and I would be way lighter, so we'd be able to maneuver around really easily. No one could catch us."
"Good idea!" Ochaco and I cheered.
"The only thing is... who would be the rider?" Izuku thought out loud.
Iida commended Izuku for his strategy, but ultimately rejected our proposal, claiming that he can't get stronger if he keeps following him. An odd reason, but it'll be fine. We still have eight minutes left.
