The wind whips my hair into my face as we near the sea

The wind whips my hair into my face as we near the sea. The familiar salty smell brings me a sense of comfort to my fraying nerves. Visions of Belle dying at the hands of a certain foolish pirate keep plaguing me. Then my own at the hands of the Dark One.

"This is... a bad idea," I admit through a heavy sigh.

"It was your idea to come here, remember?" She asks, amusement dancing in her eyes.

"Well, I have a weapon," She reaches into her pocket and pulls out something sleek and metal.

My eyes go wide at the sight of the gun.

"So do I." She smiles smugly.

"Well, I don't call you Belle the bad ass with a book for nothing," I laugh. She rolls her eyes, smiling. The moment lingers, then slips away. "Why do you want to come with me so bad?"

"Because Hook stole something important to Rumple. Something he needs." She's doing this for Gold?

"And what would that be?"

"It's a shawl."

I stop so fast I nearly trip over myself.

"You're risking your life for a shawl?" I hiss.

"It belongs to his son." She squares her shoulders, lifting her chin. The Dark One has a son?

The wooden dock creaks eerily beneath our feet. I've been on enough docks to know this one won't crumble beneath us. Of course, not that that's ever happened to me.

"Do you see his ship anywhere?" She asks me as if I know what Hook's ship looks like. All of these ships are modern in design.

"No, but it has to be here unless he's somehow managed to dock it in the woods." I snark.

"Maybe it's not here at all. Maybe he came to Storybrooke some other way."

"No, he'd never abandon his ship," I mutter to myself. She looks at me out of the corner of her eye. I clear my throat before adding, "He's a pirate."

Seagulls swarm overhead, their cries swallowed by the wind. One of them swoops down and then stops. Perched in mid air. A slow grin splits across my face.

"Look!"

Belle gives me an excited grin. I was right! Cora really is here. Regina will be so relieved. Okay, maybe not relieved, all things considered. But, at least her son won't think she murdered his shrink.

I grab a handful of birdseed from a nearby box before tossing it. The seed scatters before landing on the invisible steps of Hook's ship. I fight the urge to jump up and down like a little girl. But if a small squeal did escape, Belle would never tell a soul.

"A cloaking spell," Belle mutters before going to step on the newly revealed steps. I grab her by the arm.

"Which, unfortunately, means Cora is with him. We have to be incredibly careful here. If Cora shows up, promise me you'll run." I say severely.
