The ball is already in full swing by the time we arrive

The ball is already in full swing by the time we arrive. Thankfully, we're not to late though. Me, Killian, and Hook sit on the edge of the forest, watching the pomp and circumstance take place as fireworks are shooting off into the cool night air.

"So, where is the crocodile?" Hook asks, breaking the silence.

"I don't know. It wasn't like I knocked on his door. He just appeared out of nowhere." I say through a sigh. I turn around just in time to see the man himself appear out of thin air. If he can even be called a man in this form. "That wasn't an invitation to do it again!"

Killian and Hook turn quickly, placing their hands on their swords instinctively. Rumpelstiltskin looks between the two with a look of disbelieve at the two men on either side of me.

"What have you done?" He asks me, pointing an accusing finger in my direction. I balk.

"Me? You're the one who poofed me right in front of him!" I exclaim, exasperated. He rolls his eyes.

"And I suppose you want to me fix this little problem as well." He says with a dramatic flair of his arms. I wince and shrug sheepishly.

"Very well." He says with a roll of his eyes. "I will erase the pirates memory and make sure he's safely tucked into bed."

"You're willing to help...me?" Hook asks slowly, the disbelieve clear on his face.

"Willing is not the word I would use, Dearie." Rumpelstiltskin sneers in his direction. How he's able to tell the two apart is beyond me. "But let's focus on getting you two into the ball so that you can make sure Snow White succeeds." I perk up slightly at his words.

"So once we make sure she succeeds, you can get us home?" Killian asks, finally chiming in.

"Of course I can." He says, as though the answer was obvious. "But you two are under dressed for a ball. Don't you think?" He asks rhetorically with a creepy giggle before waving a hand. My vision is suddenly clouded by a puff of smoke and I squeeze my eyes shut. Strangley, I can feel the clothes on my body begin to shift and change and before I know it, the smoke clears. I feel the new fabric shift against my skin—cool, smooth satin where rougher fabrics used to be.

I look down, feeling the familiar heavy materials of a ball gown. The gown he's chosen for me is gorgeous, I can't even lie to myself about that. The dark satin dress is a dreamy shade of dark blue with gold embroidery all along the bodice and skirts, making the dress resemble the night sky. The sleeves themselves are long and flowy, going past my hands. And the dress is off the shoulder but still tasteful.

I'm about to give Rumpelstiltskin a piece of my mind about putting me in a corset when I look over to my right to see Killian already looking at me with an awestruck look

I'm about to give Rumpelstiltskin a piece of my mind about putting me in a corset when I look over to my right to see Killian already looking at me with an awestruck look. My own gaze soon matches his as I take in what he's wearing. He's dressed like a prince in silver. I love Killian's leather getup but this...this is nice. I blush when I realize I'm staring and quickly avert my gaze back to Rumpelstiltskin. I don't dare even look at Hook.

"Aren't we meant to not stand out?" I ask.

"Allow me." Rumpelstiltskin says and next thing I know, a mirror appears in his hands. He turns the mirror around to face us and I grin when I see two different people looking back at us. "A glamour spell. This is how you shall appear to one and all." I nod my head in thanks before finally turning to face Hook to see he's already looking at me as well. The look in his eyes is familiar, reminding me of the man whose hands lays softly on the small of my back.

"Well, I guess this is where we part ways then." I say quickly, wanting nothing more than to get this done and over with. I may love the man, but I still don't want to deal with two of him. Well...maybe in certain circumstances, two wouldn't be so- "Thank you for helping me and not serving my head to Cora on a silver platter." I say, cutting off than line of thought with a blush. I put my hand out for a handshake. He takes my hand in his but doesn't let go immediately.

"I wish I could remember this day." He says, looking down at our joined hands. He finally looks up, meeting my eye. "For the first time in...a long time, I feel hope. I imagine I won't have that for awhile." He says, almost as though he's talking to himself. I open and close my mouth, the corners of my mouth turning down because I know he's right. For once, I don't know what to say.

"But you will." Killian speaks up suddenly, wrapping his arm around my waiste. I look up to see a bittersweet smile tugging at his lips. "On a sunny day, almost three decades from now, while pretending to be a blacksmith."
