Third Pov
Alice's funeral took place a week after her death. The funeral was like all funerals, depressing. She would have hated that. Everyone who knew Alice knew that her goal was always to defeat Cora. And she did.
But that didn't stop the people who knew her from grieving.
Alice looked bea6utiful in her coffin. She was wearing her favorite baby blue coat that reached her ankles in length. Her hair is done up in her favorite braids that her mother used to do for her. The ones Andy learned how to do after she passed. She looks just as everyone remembered her, almost as if she were sleeping.
Jefferson was distraught, feeling as though he had failed Alice. Pushed her to this. He couldn't even speak at her wake. Andy was the one who gave the speech. It was a long one. The man who had loved Alice since they were kids wanted everyone to know who she was beyond the prophecy. That she was just a woman who wanted to live a normal life.
He told them of how she loved the sea and their adventures around the Enchanted Forest. He told them that she hated tea, that if she doesn't get to bed at a certain hour, she gets very grumpy the next day, that she cut their wedding cake with a sword, and how he loved her completely. He was heartbroken when Alice ended things with him. But he sobbed when he realized he would never get to see his best friend marry a man she actually loved.
Lacey was inconsolable, sobbing into Gold's shoulder the whole time. Alice had been her friend for twenty eight years. She was the only person she had left in the world whom she remembered. She put the copy of Howl's Moving Castle in with Alice's casket. It felt fitting.
The others, people who had just met her recently, like Emma, David, Snow, and even Gold, all watched them lower the girl into the ground mournfully. A girl who had managed to touch the hearts of everyone she met.
Regina watched from a distance, knowing her presence wouldn't be welcome. But she cried as well. Blaming herself for not trusting Alice. For throwing away her friendship for a mother who never truly loved her.
A lot has happened in Storybrooke since Cora and Alice's deaths. Regina tried to cast a curse that would make Henry love her. Lacey gets her cursed memories, false memories of her time before being imprisoned. August is turned back into a little boy after trying to warn Emma about a woman, and she now believes that the woman is Neal's fiancée. And just recently, Greg and Tamara brought in a weapon of their own.
