Me and Killian quickly make our way through the halls of the castle as I attempt to not trip over my skirts. We didn't exactly know where we were going but there's a commotion up ahead that gives us a clue. Eventually, we come across a balcony, stepping out in time to see Snow going over the edge. I grin, my shoulders relaxing as I realize the black knights won't be able to get to her now.
"She did it." I breath out.
"You can't hide from me! Wherever you are, I will find you!" I look up at the sound of David's voice and the familiar words printed in Henry's storybook. I feel like crying from relief, realizing that I hadn't completely screwed everything up.
"Charming." Killian comments dryly but I can tell he's relieved himself. Now we just need to focus on getting home. Before we can make our way back to the party, a black knight appears in the doorway and pushes me out of the way.
"You'll find her sooner than you think, my lord!" He exclaims, knocking an arrow in his bow and pulling it back. My eyes widen and, without thinking, I push him to the side before he can let loose the arrow. I land on the golden balcony hard and as I attempt to get up, my hand brushes against something metallic. My heart drops as I grab onto the damned ring. Dammit, Snow.
"The ring!" I tell Killian as more black knights make their way over to us.
"You've got to get it to Snow. Go! I got this." He says, pushing me behind him. I quickly take my sword from my waste and press it to his chest.
"Take this." I say and run off back the way I came. In hindsight, I probably should have not gone back to the party where, you know, the Evil Queen is. But what else am I supposed to do? Scale the walls in heels?
Once I'm back inside the party, which has dimmed considerably by the appearance of Snow and Regina, I go to make my way towards the exit when one of the black knights stops me.
"There she is! She helped the bandit escape." He snitches and Regina's full attention is now centered on me. I feel my stomach roll with a quick wave of nausea.
"Oh, fuck." I mutter to myself. Regina approaches me like I'm prey, a catlike smile on her face.
"Going somewhere?" She asks and I can't help but roll my eyes and bow dramatically.
"Your Majesty." I say, looking up at her through my eyelashes. Her jaw clenches as she appraches until she's only inches away from my face.
"Snow White may have left the part early, but I suspect your night has just begun." She sneers. "Take her away."
ONE YEAR AGO
The city is alive tonight, like usual. With people bustling on the sidewalks without sparing a glance over their shoulders. People in New York walk like they always have somewhere to be, even if they don't. I drag a downtrodden Emma along with me, her arm looped through mine with an uncharacteristic grin on my face.
