So much dirt

So much dirt. The smell of death, I can practically taste it. Tears come to my eyes as I look up at the night sky. My breathing is too ragged. I shouldn't be breathing at all so I guess I can't complain.

I try to look around at my surroundings but all I can see is pitch black darkness, the only light is the moon up in the sky. I'm in a hole, this I know, but how? The last thing I remember is Cora sinking the dagger into me and falling unconscious. But that doesn't explain why I'm in a hole.

Had I somehow survived? Is Cora still alive and possibly the Dark One? I get up and my knees crack and I realize that whatever I've been laying in is plush. I feel around blindly and gasp whenever I realize what I'm feeling. A coffin.

With a shake of my head I try to grasp onto a root in the ground for leverage but it pulls out of the dirt when I put my body weight onto it. With a groan I step back and give myself a little running jump before latching onto the edge of the hole. I hoist myself up with great difficulty. I breath a sigh of relief when I look around and it's not pure darkness. I'm in a graveyard, I realize with a start. I look back at the hole I had climbed out of and see a headstone in front of it. A headstone with my name neatly chiseled on to it.

My breathing quickens, the reality of what's happened finally sinking in. I died. Now I'm here. How is that possible? I look down at my trembling hands in disbelief. I look fine and feel fine. Almost as though I were never stabbed to begin with. I realize that I'm wearing my blue coat. At least I was dressed in something nice for my funeral.

I wonder how long I've been buried here. I guess I should go back into town and find out. Great.

I have no idea where I am.

The walk back to town took more time than I'd like to admit

The walk back to town took more time than I'd like to admit. I did get turned around once. Or twice. By the time I'm walking down the main street, the sun is shining. Thankfully, no one seems to be out and about yet. It probably would be unnerving to see a dead girl walking. It's unnerving for me too, I would tell them.

I had initially planned on going to Gold's, if anyone has answers for what's happened, it's him. But for all I know, he's dead and Cora might show up and finish the job. Which would almost be funny if I hadn't just crawled out of my grave.
