Killian's ship quarters are just as I remember, except the smell of rum is much stronger

Killian's ship quarters are just as I remember, except the smell of rum is much stronger. We snuffed out most of the candles, so our faces are shrouded in shadow, which led to him making a comment about what 'fun' activities we could do while we await Snow White's arrival, which led to my knee finding his groin. It's a miracle we haven't killed each other yet.

The plan is a simple one, but effective. Killian has a ship, Snow White needs passage out of the enchanted forest. We'll offer her safe passage, for a price. I stand, leaning my back against the corner of the room while Killian sits lazily behind his desk, feet propped up. Footsteps echo down the stairs, and I quickly pull my bandana over the bottom of my face. Snow's already seen me, but it's better if she doesn't get a good look.

She appears in the doorway, looking around suspiciously before her eyes land on mine and Killian's shrouded figures. I study her expression and instinctively raise a brow. This Snow is a lot less cheerful than the Snow I know. Not so much of an optimistic fool.

"If I was a less suspicious person, this might feel like an ambush," she says. I take a step forward, standing by Killian's side behind the desk.

"We don't need to ambush you. You're not much of a threat on your own," I tell her with a small chuckle. She's not even armed with anything more than a dagger. Her eyes light up in recognition when she sees me and the unmistakable blue outfit I'm still wearing.

"You," she says accusingly, with furrowed brows. "You were there, at the—"

"Ambush you were planning? Yes, that was me," I confirm. Not my proudest moment, I think to myself bitterly. "I know who you are, Snow White. I'm guessing you needed those jewels from King Midas's carriage to pay for passage out of the enchanted forest. After all, the Evil Queen does not make for a pleasant enemy." She seems slightly impressed by my assessment and stays silent for a couple of seconds before responding.

"You're right. That's why I'm here, after all," she says, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well, you're in luck. I'm also looking for a way out of the enchanted forest. Hence my own failed attempt at robbing that carriage," I lie easily. I gesture over to Killian, who I've instructed to remain silent. Much to my surprise, he's actually listening. "My friend here owes me, so he's made me a deal. Tonight, there's a ball at King Midas's palace. There's a ring there that he wants in exchange for our safe passage out of the enchanted forest." She seems taken aback.

"Our?" She asks for clarification. I roll my eyes before letting out a big sigh.

"Well, there isn't much honor amongst thieves, but I do owe you. And besides that, as you may have noticed, I'm a terrible thief. Logic follows that if you steal that ring for me and get the both of us out of the enchanted forest, my debt will be paid. Don't you think?" I can tell by the look on her face that she's beginning to understand.

"So you're saying that helping you also helps me?" She surmises, and I raise a brow and shrug.

"Do you want out of the enchanted forest or not?" I ask sternly, heart racing. Please take the deal. She considers me for a moment, clenching her jaw before sticking her hand out in my direction.
