The Black Knights made me forego my gown and dress in whatever rags they had laying around before unceremoniously throwing me to the gravely ground of a prison cell. I look up to see the jagged edges of the cave walls and sigh heavily. Great. Another hole for me to rot in.
"Are you alright?" I look to my left at the sound of a woman's voice, startled. The woman has long dark hair and is dressed in similar clothes to mine.
"Yeah, thanks." I say with a thin smile. I get up and walk towards the other side of the cell where we're separated by more cold steel. "I'm... Daenerys."
"I would introduce myself but I dare not speak it here. The Queen doesn't know who I am, and my silence is the only thing keeping my family safe." She whispers conspiratorially. I nod sympathetically.
"What are you in for?" I ask. She clenches her jaw before answering.
"I knew where Snow White was but I refused to tell the Queen."
"Same here. Kind of." I tell her before resting my forehead against the cold metal bars. "I'm guessing we'll be executed."
"You don't seem that scared by that notion." I hear her say in a confused voice. I open my eyes and go to look up at her, but my eyes snag on the wooden spoon nestled in the gravel. I smile as I notice the sharpened end of the wooden utensil.
"That's because I have no intention of dying." I say, bending down to pick up the spoon. I thrust my other hand through the bars, palm up. "Here, hand me your spoon. I'll show you a little trick a friend taught me."
She does as I ask, and I quickly make my way over to the rusted metal padlock. When I met Emma, she seemed like your run-of-the-mill single mom. It wasn't long before I found she actually went to prison for stealing thousands of dollars worth of watches. I didn't know at the time that she wasn't actually guilty. Especially since she taught me how to pick locks.
I put the sharp ends of the spoons into the lock, closing my eyes to better help me focus. With a soft click, I gently turned one of the spoons, applying just enough pressure to keep the pins in place. I could feel each one give, the subtle resistance of the tumblers as they shifted into position. Time seemed to slow down, the only sounds being the faint clicks of the lock and the quiet rhythm of my breath. Another small adjustment, and then—success. The lock was open.
"You did it!" The woman cries out as the chains holding my cell closed clank to the ground. I open the cell door and go to make my way down the cave to the exit when I stop a couple of feet away from her cell. "What are you waiting for? Go! Get out of here!"
Killian is going to kill me. I think with a wince before making my way over to unlock the woman's cell.
