Third Person's Point of View
"Yang Haera," A deep voice called out, Haera knew it wasn't one of her members. It was someone else. She turned her head towards her room's door and saw a familiar man walking towards her. He was wearing a suit and a black fedora hat.
Haera tried to recall any memory of the man but failed. In fear, she moved away, shaking the hospital equipment surrounding her.
"Hey, hey, calm down." Jeno soothed. "That's Seniore Miguel. Can't remember him?" He held Haera's shoulder and rubbed gentle circles, calming her down.
Haera sighed in relief.
"I'm here. Don't be scared." Jeno smiled, reassuring Haera that everything was fine.
"I'm sorry if I startled you, dear." Señor Miguel stepped closer. "I'm glad you're awake now."
"Why did you take us in? What's your reason?" Haera asked, she was skeptical by the sudden kindness of the old man in front of her.
"Oh, we're talking about that right away?" Señor Miguel was startled but he chuckled it away. "Well, I can't blame you. You experienced Diego's insanity. I understand your distrust." He smiled. "But if you really want answers now; your father and I go way back."
"Sorry I'm late." It was Señor Carlo walking in from the door.
"He's Señor Carlo. Remember him from the gathering?" Jeno gazed at Haera. She simply nodded.
"You remember Carlo but not me. Ahhh, that makes me sad." Señor Miguel jokingly pouted.
"She just woke up and you're joking right away. You might give her a headache." Señor Carlo chuckled.
There was a short silence after the conversation of the old men until Haera spoke. "You said my father and you go way back? What do you mean by that?"
"Oh, business right away?" Señor Carlo was startled.
"She's Do Yoon's daughter, of course it's business right away." Señor Miguel responded, almost like a joke. He turned his attention to Haera and thought for a while, finding the right words to his story. "Carlo and I were Do Yoon's closest friends. We were four in the group, the last member being Jaehyun's father, Ju Myeong."
"I didn't know that." Haera whispered.
"You wouldn't. Do Yoon tried his best to give you a normal life. We would often hide in your family's mansion when you and Jaehyun were having playdates just so you wouldn't know that Ju Myeong was there too with your father and us. We would just drink while the two of you have no idea that his father and yours are related." Miguel answered. "Do Yoon and Ju Myeong wanted the both of you to stay out of the danger of our world."
"Everything was going well between Sin Nombre and Beranios, until El Señor came. He was often referred to as 'The Conqueror' as he likes targeting mafia groups, he wanted to be the only one with power and your father's power intimidated him." Carlo sighed and paused. "He's stupidly evil. He blackmailed Ju Myeong— El Señor said that he would kill Jaehyun and his wife if he did not tell where Do Yoon was living. At first Ju Myeong did not believe him and stayed loyal to his friend but El Señor killed half of his men. He was scared that Jaehyun and his wife was next, so he gave in. Ju Myeong knew he was not as powerful as Do Yoon to go against El Señor."
Haera felt bothered by the old men's story. She was hearing firsthand what truly happened to the past.
"El Señor attacked your mansion shortly after Ju Myeong and his encounter." Haera looked away from Señor Carlo as she remembered the last bitter memory of her father. "It was also then that Ju Myeong tried to escape with his family, but Do Yoon had them hunted down. He wanted to have his revenge even if he knew that he would die."
"Leaving? Like Jae-jae, Father?" The young Haera asked.
Do Yoon frowned. "Jae-jae's family is leaving, sweetie?"
"Yes, father. He told me earlier. I think they're leaving now." She answered innocently.
"You! Find them!" Yang Do Yoon suddenly bellowed. He walked away from Haera and ordered some of his men to find the Jeong Family.
"Why are you angry, Father? Did they do something wrong?" Haera had an innocent curiosity in her face.
Do Yoon was unable to answer anymore as an explosion took place in the mansion.
"They're here!" One of Do Yoon's men shouted. They men rushed to Haera and their boss and protected them with bulletproof shields.
Haera finally understood the story behind the sudden attack at their mansion. She was also starting to piece the puzzles between Jaehyun's father and his betrayal against the old Sin Nombre.
"Next thing we knew was that Sin Nombre was in El Señor's hands already. He sat down as the godfather while his son, Diego, was appointed as the boss. El Señor trained Diego to be his clone: ruthless and heartless. El Señor is old, he already had 2 strokes and his health is declining that's why Diego has been acting as the godfather these past few months. When El Señor dies, Diego will be the next conquerer of power. I'm pretty sure you already know that when you faked an alliance with Diego." Señor Carlo continued. Haera simply nodded at the old man's last statement.
"Diego could kill El Señor anytime. He badly wanted to go behind his father's back when we spoke to each other a few months ago." Haera replied. A surge of embarrassment surging through her veins knowing that Jeno was listening. She couldn't forget the night that Diego revealed that she was betraying Sueño and formed up an alliance with him behind their back. She knew it was only for show, but the emotional pain she felt when Sueño turned their back on her still lingered in her memory.
"That's what we don't want to happen. As much as we despise El Señor, we want him alive. Diego wouldn't move without his father's approval, he's a puppet until now." Señor Miguel spoke.
"What's wrong with that? Wouldn't it be more helpful? It will just be one tyrannical leader left." Haera questioned, her eyebrows meeting.
"Because the difference between El Señor and Diego is huge. El Señor thinks before he attacks, it gives us, his enemies, time to think of a plan. He warns before attacking, unlike Diego who attacks right away." Jeno suddenly blurted in the conversation.
"Exactly." Señor Carlo agreed. "You've grown into a smart leader." He complimented. Jeno smiled at his senior.
Señor Miguel spoke, stopping the sudden release of tension in their conversation. He wanted the people in front of him to understand how dangerous the situation is. "Given the advancement that Sin Nombre has right now, it'll be difficult for us to fight back."
"We have with us another unit from Sin Nombre too who turned their backs away from El Señor's reign." Jeno stated.
"Ah, yes." Señor Miguel breathed out. "Genio, was it?"
"Yes, Senior."
"Fascinating." He paused. "You can vouch for their skills?"
"Of course, Señor. Aside from Sueño, I grew up with them. I know their strengths and weaknesses. We will need them in this fight." Jeno replied with pride.
"If that's the case," Señor Miguel paused, thought for a while, and formed a smirk on his lips. "Start your training with the boys this week. You'll be with my assassins."
