This was such a bittersweet moment. After two years of hard work, with constant drive, blood, sweat, and tears, I was finally returning to the National Finals Rodeo! I was prepared for how things were supposed to go, and I was hopeful for a good ten rounds in the arena. Though the rodeo wasn't starting until December 2nd, we were preparing now as the new plan was to keep the horses on the rodeo grounds and stay in a hotel near the Thomas and Mack Center instead of going home every night as this time, I was expected to participate in signings and interviews with a few of my sponsors that had booths at the Las Vegas Convention Center, so Zak and I figured it was easier to stay in a hotel nearby instead of driving the 20+ minutes to the convention center and Thomas and Mack every day the NFR was going on.
And luckily, the hotel allowed dogs and I was so excited to bring Gracie along! Aaron was already planning to film his notorious "Aaron's Vlogs" as apparently, a lot of fans commented on his Instagram post about how excited he was to attend the rodeo about how they wanted him to vlog throughout the ten days at the NFR to see a behind the scenes before they watched the actual rodeo.
Zak seemed to be so excited to be putting his work on hold just so he could be there with me at the rodeo, taking a much-needed break from his filming and travel schedule and to put his mind towards something else, and we had to make up for lost time as most of the summer and fall weekends consisted of us spending a lot of time apart.
We both hated it, but I think I hated it more because there were many times where I had to travel alone without Zak or Sam, and even though I had Gracie with me, it still wasn't the same without my husband.
He doesn't know it yet, but after the NFR concludes, I'm going to officially retire Arson and only go to a few rodeos a year with Dallas and Dakota. I had taken two years to achieve my goals and fulfill my passion of rodeo, but I let it consume me completely like it was my sole career. Sure, there were times that Zak and I could spend time together on the weekends, but it was at a rodeo. I can't remember the last time we spent the weekend at home, tangled against each other or sleeping in without having plans for the day. We both were "booked out" with our separate careers, and I was afraid it was going to tear us apart even though there wasn't any evidence of it, but people were starting to get nosy... a little too nosy as to wondering if we got divorced or were separated since they haven't seen me on the show in a while, even if Zak and I were still playfully bantering at each other with our Twitter posts, but to some people, it still wasn't enough.
I waited patiently at home for Zak to arrive as he and the guys were coming back from a location in California, my bags packed for the hotel and the horses in their stalls and ready to load on the trailer once he got home, and to say I was beyond excited was an understatement.
My heart pounded when I got a Ring Camera notification on my phone, the chime echoing throughout the house as I rushed towards the front door to meet him before he could even walk through the door. I shrieked with excitement as I met him on the porch, wrapping my arms around his neck and trapping his lips with mine. His arms instinctively wrapped around my waist, pulling me tighter against him as he began to guide me back into the house, chuckling against my lips before he shut the door behind him. "I missed you so much, sweetie."
