larry
after the situation with sals cat and travis wearing MY slippers, we went back to the basement. we didn't have anything to do apart from lie there and stare at the ceiling, so that's what we did.
"do you want to do anything?"
travis sighed, sat up, then lay back down again automatically.
"nah."
he looked over at me occasionally, watching me breathe for a few seconds before turning away, if not, he was biting his nails or adjusting my piercings, mostly my nose ring. luckily someone knocking on the door disrupted the awkward silence.
"give me a minute."
i threw myself off the bed, opening my bedroom door and walking up to the pounding on our front door.i was scared to open it. they were banging on the door, only stopping for a few seconds before hitting it once more. i figured it might've been my friends playing around and trying to scare me, or my mom just forgot her key and figured i was asleep, so she was trying to get my attention. i pushed away the small gut feeling and opened the door. i gulped loudly when i was met with a person i never wanted to see eye to eye.
"hello father."
he looked down at me, putting a flask into his pocket and crossing his arms.
"i heard my son was here?"
i bit my tongue, thinking of a response to try and protect travis and myself.
"your son? who's that if you don't mind me asking?"
he tutted, obviously knowing what i was trying to do.
"travis. travis phelps. tall, blonde, goes to your school?"
i nodded slowly and tried my hardest to not piss myself from how scared i was. i stuttered nervously and tried to stop my eyes from darting around the room in fear, and praying travis wouldn't make any sudden sounds or movements. or worst case scenario, come out of my room.
"uh.. no sir, he's not here."
the thing i really wanted to avoid but i knew would happen, the inevitable, happened.
"larry who-"
he froze still, keeping his hand on the door and barely blinking, his lip started to shake violently as he struggled to breathe.
"son."
he nodded, keeping his hand held firmly on his chest.
"get whatever shit you brought with you. i'm taking you home."
"wait dad-"
he struggled to breathe, hacking and coughing violently as an attempt to get air into his throat. all i did was stand there and watch like some kind of puppet.
"you're not having an asthma attack. stop faking it and get out of this.. hideous place before i drag you out."
he nodded quickly and ran back into my room, grabbing his things quickly and pulling out his inhaler. as he did, i quickly ran into the room and whispering as quietly as i could.
"if he hurts you call me. i'll pick you up, i promise."
luckily his dad didn't hear me or i would most likely be dead. he did seem suspicious, as he came out.
"kissing him goodbye?"
i furrowed my eyebrows as travis came out of my room, blowing as much air as he could into his mouth from his inhaler. when he came close to the door his dad slapped it out of his hand, not giving him time to pick it up before dragging him out of the basement by the wrist.i discreetly followed them out, trying to see if his dad did anything to him as they were leaving. i had to quickly run up the stairs to avoid using the elevator with them. i peered from above the banister as his dad pulled him out of the entrance, travis already drowning in tears. i couldn't do anything to stop it. i couldn't shout someone to help as nobody could do anything. i had to stand and watch helplessly as he was pulled away. i had to hold back my own tears as i knew they would be as loud as his and they would hear me. his dad would know how much i loved travis.
