I felt his warm hands touch my back and for some reason it sent electricity through my spine. It was strange because I never really felt this way towards him.
I felt him guide me to a stop and he told me to wait with my eyes shut, so I did.
I heard rustling and then a splash. My eyes shot open and in front of me stood lively green trees and flowers sparkling with every color.
I walk around the deadheads almost everyday and not once have I seen something as beautiful as this place.
"What are you waiting for love? Get in!" I couldn't help but smile and cannonball into the shimmering, ocean colored pond. "This is lovely." I smiled.
Newt nodded, his hair was sprawled into different directions and his eyes were sparking from the sun beaming on them. "Not as lovely as you Y/N."
I smiled as Newt leaned in, but I shook my head, breaking the eye contact. "I-I can't Newt. You know that, I-I'm sorry." "Oh, no, don't be. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have--"
"It's okay." He forced a smile and I did too, I don't think I've ever felt so horrible in my life. He honestly didn't deserve that, but he truly deserves better than me anyway.
It was silent between him and I, and this time it wasn't peaceful. It was the screaming silence that pierced your ears and tore your heart. I was speechless and so was he.
So I splashed him. "I bet I can beat you to the other side of the pond!"
He smiled, but I could tell he was still hurt; my stomach ached.
"I don't bloody think so!" He played off his true emotions like a sad mother would, and that's when I realized he was exactly like me.
We splashed our way to the other side when Alby came to crush our joy and break us out of our immaturity spell. "Newt, what are you doing?! There's a gathering in five!" Alby shouted, looking at his watch.
Newt and I exchanged sympathetic looks and we both made our way out. He threw his shirt on and ruffled his hair. "I guess I'll see you after the meeting?" He half smiled.
"Yeah, I'll be around."
He nodded, "this was uh-nice."
"Mhm, thank you for clearing my head."
"I didn't clear your head for you, you did it yourself love."
He tapped my nose and walked away without looking back.
