We had to be meant to be.
Nothing else can explain the sweet, delicate memories that ran through my mind from before the maze.
It was like once our lips met, memories were released, like a dam finally being broken down.
The memories were simple things like us laughing about something silly, or burning pancakes, holding hands, and looking up at the sky.
Maybe something was waiting for me to let my walls down, and for Newt to let his feelings flood out.
How could I have been so blind all this time? I was missing out on so much. I gently pulled away, wiping my tears.
"Newt, I'm so sorry about everything. I'm such a klunk head. I'm so sorry about how I've been treating you. I'm surprised you still even like me." I muttered quietly.
"It's okay Y/N, I'm sorry for blowing up of you, I-I just didn't know how to say anything, I let my anger get the best of me."
"No, you have every right to blow up on me, I deserved it. I'm glad you did, you opened my eyes."
"You opened your own." A smile tugged on Newt's lips.
I blushed, "How's your ankle? We should probably get back."
He checked his watch. "Yeah, we should, my ankle's alright."
"You should go to the medjacks and get something for it."
"No, I'll be fine." He stated, breaking eye contact.
"Too bad, we're going to the medjacks." I told him, glancing at his past injury.
His ankle looked terrible, it was swollen and tinted a lilac purple color. I knew it wasn't a good idea for him to run, but I'm glad he came with me.
Newt leaned on my shoulder for support as we walked toward the medjacks; Minho stopping in front of us.
"I'm so glad you klunkheads finally made up," he smirked, "maybe even more than I expected." Minho made kissy faces like a five year old and ran off to the map room.
"I guess he saw that eh?" Newt questioned, his breathtaking accent lacing his voice.
"Probably heard it all too." I shrugged.
