Salex
Hillary was handling this very well. Honestly they both were.
"To be clear," Lylta spoke up, "It appears that human's nature lends itself to the Omega dynamic, but those who are best fit for the surrogacy program, demonstrate more omega features than other humans."
"What does that make you?" Kait said, her voice soft, but firm. "Are you all Alphas?"
"We have not confirmed how many dynamics exist within our own race, but it appears that for the most part, Trenzian's demonstrate many alpha-like tendencies."
Hillary leaned forward, "What does that mean for us though? Other than it explains the bond ties that are so clear between us."
"The biggest takeaway is that this reliance on surrogate programs is no longer true. Alphas and omegas are two halves of a whole. While our software seems to be successfully matching Trenzian's with their mates, it almost means that by intermixing the two species, more matches may naturally come to light as well."
"That's great news, right? Earth is a mess. I'm sure plenty of human women would want to explore options with Trenizan men–males–alphas. Whatever." Hillary's hands fluttered.
Furo nodded and Oren spoke up, "That would be our hope too. And I believe that will be the first step in the plan to convince the Prime to allow Trenzian matches once again."
"A small group could come to Trenzia," Lylta said, "And see if it is true. The software could help us decide who to bring over, those with heavier Omega traits, and then we wait and see."
"That is part of the reason we need the Makhran on board with us," I said, looking at my mate. She had been there as we called the Makhranian pilot Shar, who patrolled the airspace between here and Trenzia. While Shar had been in a marriage contract to Kait, he had accepted my phone call to discuss a possible alliance. He had been short with us over the communicator, but promised to call back tomorrow with his requests.
I had high hopes for this alliance. I was eager to get Oren's plan in motion. I had visions of being able to introduce my mate to my father someday. And the future of my family was held in this balance.
"What happens now?"
"We wait for Captain Shar's response. And continue to communicate with my brothers about our meeting with the Alpha Prime," Oren's face tightened, "Furo is already on route to meet with those who run the surrogacy software. I hope that they will be another ally when we go to meet with my father."
"Do you have a timeline in place?" Lylta asked, he cast a wary eye over both of the females. "If we wait very much longer, we will be delivering younglings here. I would need additional support, Catherine and I are not as well versed in that area."
"Not yet. I will reach out again today. My brothers have been less than responsive this week."
Lylta nodded his gratitude, turning his eyes to Hillary as she shifted, her belly more uncomfortable by the day. Worry plagued me as I read the fear in his gaze. The medic was worried about delivering these younglings, and for good reason. With the majority of younglings being born in the surrogate centers, he would have limited training in the area of delivery.
My fists curled. Instincts rising faster than I anticipated as I considered what little time we had to solve all of this. We were weeks from Trenzia on this path.
There would be no delivering this youngling in a center. He would be born here.
I had to be sure we were as equipped as possible.
"If we are done here. I have some things to discuss with my mate."
The others, including Oren all looked surprised but stood and moved towards the door.
Lylta hesitated, at the open door. "Commander?"
My hands smoothed over Hillary's hair. "Yes."
"I may not be a warrior, not like the others who serve you, but no youngling born under my care will ever suffer. You have my pledge. As a Trenizan and a medic."
And then he was gone, ducking into the hall without backwards glance.
Hillary pushed her chair back, moving until I relinquished my control and let her push her way onto my lap. "I like him."
"Lylta? He is the best."
Her face nuzzled my neck, making my body warm against her. "He is. But it's more than that. Everyone treats him like he's not as strong, but he has handled all of this so well. And he's devoted to each of us." Hillary pulled back. "That says a lot about a person. Don't you think?"
I sighed, "It does. I need to be better about maintaining communication with him. Making sure he knows his value."
Her smile was so beautiful I nearly stopped my heart. "Thank you Salex." Hillary pushed up, rubbing her nose against mine for a moment before breathing over my mouth. "Such a wise mate I have."
My heart leaped, the bond a pleasant buzz in my chest. "You think I'm wise?"
She nodded, still holding her lips just a fraction from my own. "Of course. After all, you chose me."
I crushed her against me, grunting with the pressure of her belly. It made me smile, just before I found her mouth with mine. I kissed her until I could forgot what was on the line...At least for a moment or two.
