Idk why I'm in this sudden writing kick but unfortunately it will be wearing off with school starting soon. Also, this is a LOOOOOOONG one so strap in.

Also I'm going to be adjusting the order of the chapters just so the ones I'm most proud of are at the beginning 🤗

Travis:

The dream started as it always does; which is to say, it doesn't ever really start. All I know is I'm suddenly running. Running faster than I ever have. My blood is pounding in my ears, and I can the sharp breaths I force myself to take with every step. My arms and legs moving are a blur, and panic drives my every movement. If I stopped running now, I would be paralyzed with fear. I don't know what is behind me, but I know I have to get away.

Around me, there's bodies. I don't give myself time to look, I just keep running. There's distant screaming, distorted and echoing across the field. I don't give myself time to consider that either. Whatever is behind me is getting closer.

I push myself harder, but I know I can't go any faster. The same fear courses through my veins, wrapping around me.

My eye catches on a slumped body 30 feet ahead. Brown hair spread across the dirt. She's motionless, but I recognize her. I continue sprinting forwards, and when I finally pass her, my breath catches.

Katie.

I stumble, my momentum sending me forward as I hit the ground. Katie is farther away, but I have to get to her. I groan, pushing myself up onto my elbows. My vision is blurry and the world tilts in front of me. I don't care, I have to get to her.

Katie.

Her arm stretches slightly in front of her, but I'm still at least fifteen feet away. But she's alive. I move to go towards her, but a pain pricks my side. Despair grips my heart, and I force my eyes up. Blue eyes. Blond hair. Long sword pressed to my rib. Scar tracing his face.

"Katie." I try to make him see that she's nearby. She needs help. He has to see that she's injured. But Luke only stares at me. A dumb realization strikes me that the sword pointed to me is to stop me from going to her. He's not on my side. Luke betrayed us again. He is what's chasing me.

"Katie." I mumble desperately. Maybe he will pity me, he will let me see her and he will leave me alone. All I need to is go to her. To talk to her. To make sure she's okay. He can do whatever he wants to me after that.

A smirk crosses his lips. "You want to see Katie? She's dead."

The words aren't true. I saw her moving. But they strike me anyway. I start shaking my head and he lets out a dry chuckle.

"Why aren't you going to her? She's right there. She needs your help and you're waiting here on the ground." Luke moves his sword away, using it to point to Katie. He's taunting me, and I realize he's right. I have to move, but I can't. I'm frozen still, chest heaving as I try to act against my petrified state.

"Travis." She calls, voice echoing around me until I'm hearing it over and over again. "Travis, where are you?"

Katie.

I squeeze my eyes shut, unable to stand it. I want to yell back, I want to move next to her, I want to tell her it's okay.

The prick of Luke's sword goes to my chest as he pushes into the skin, just barely. Enough to sting, but not much more than that.

"I really am sorry, Travis."

My eyes track his arms as they swing up, sword pointed at me. It draws down, and down, and down, and dow-
