I eventually snuck off and was able to get some sleep. After a couple of hours of tossing and turning of course.

Waking up early and doing my normal morning routine, I realize I'm still in deep thought about what I overheard last night. I think Alastor has more feelings for me than he realizes. Ugh. So complicated. I hate when it's complicated! Why do I always end up in situations that are complicated?!

I finally get dressed in something that's comfortable but still more than just pajamas and head out with the goal of breakfast. Maybe I would feel better if I just had someone to talk to about this.

I don't want to put Husk in the middle of this mess, that's not fair. Angel knows, but I don't feel like I can really confide in him. I'm not sure how he feels after the awkward encounter when he realized our secret. Charlie and Vaggie don't know, and I think it's wise to keep it that way. Niffty... yeah, no.

My peripheral vision catches the movements of a very bright outfit. I completely forgot that since the hotel has been rebuilt after the battle with Adam that he now has his own space here in the building! We've talked before, maybe he'd be willing to indulge me in conversation again. If nothing else, maybe he'd be willing to make me pancakes again?

Before he gets too far, I jokingly sigh dramatically, as loud as I can in the hopes of getting his attention. "Oh man. I'm starving!" I start, being absolutely over the top as I lay the back of my hand over my forehead. "If only there were someone in this hotel that was a master of making pancakes!" I can see that he's stopped walking, looking over at me with interest. I can't help but smile. "If only someone knew how to make the best pancakes in Hell." I joke, finally making eye contact with Lucifer.

"Bacon pancakes?" Lucifer questions me. I can see in his eyes that he's excited about the idea.

"Bacon... pancakes?" I ask in return, tilting my head in confusion. "Like... pancakes with bacon in them?" I continue my questioning.

"Oh, little lady. You're in for a treat!" Lucifer wiggles his finger at me and laughs. I know I should trust his statement, but a part of me is a little terrified.

Once the food was made and we sat down to eat, the first bite of the bacon pancakes was something I didn't expect.

"Holy shit. These are..." I pause as my mind is overloaded with sensations. Lucifer is inching closer, waiting for a response. He has eyes like a puppy and it's fricking adorable. "...amazing! You are a master chef, good sir!" I jokingly bow from my chair, making Lucifer laugh.

"Oh please! It's just pancakes." Lucifer waves his hand like it's not a big deal. I don't miss the small blush that's on his cheeks. Maybe he's not used to this praise.

"Um, bacon pancakes, actually." I playfully correct him as I take another bite. His smile seems so genuine. I'm glad I can have a nice morning with the King of Hell.

"So, what's new, my friend?" Lucifer asks as he cuts up a bit of his giant stack of bacon pancakes.

I smirk and tilt my head. "Are you actually asking because you don't know? Or are you trying to be polite?" I tease. "If I recall, you have your ways of knowing what's going on around here." I point my fork with my next bite of bacon pancakes on it at him.

Lucifer mimics my motion, pointing his fork with his next bite at me. "Touche." He says lowly with a playful smirk on his face. He eats his next bite and shrugs. "Phine. Wuts goin' on btwn you 'nd 'Lstr?" I know that was a question, but with his mouth full it was a little hard to make out. My ear twitches as I process his words.

"What's going on between me and Alastor?" I ask back to make sure I heard Lucifer correctly. Lucifer nods dramatically as he continues eating. So, I did hear him correctly.

"Ugh, I would like to know too." I mutter, taking a bite of my food. There's a good thirty seconds of silence between the two of us before one of us decides to talk.

"Well, if I can indulge you with my thoughts..." Lucifer begins, waiting for permission before continuing. I motion for him to proceed as I continue eating. ".... I've known Alastor since the second he arrived in Hell. I knew he failed one of his murders on Earth and ended up shot. Interesting to know it was you." He throws in, making both of us smile. "He made his presence known quickly, toppling overlords easily and gaining power seemingly overnight." Lucifer's face changes, like he's scowling. "I don't like him."

I already had a feeling, but to hear the words out loud are still a bit jarring. To be fair, I don't know many others that do like him. I didn't like him for a long time! But... I do now. So, hearing that others don't hurts a little.

"I don't entirely understand his motives, and I have a strong feeling they're not for anyone's benefit but himself." Lucifer explains coldly.

"I see." Is all I can muster up to say. I don't look at Lucifer anymore. I don't want to argue with how Lucifer feels.

"But you know..." Now Lucifer has my attention as I look back at him. His face doesn't look as grim as it did earlier. "...I watched the Vox tech footage fight between Adam and Alastor a few times. I have a theory on why Alastor got hit." Lucifer begins before shoving an entire pancake in his mouth.

I'm trying to patiently wait for the rest of his explanation, but with him chewing an entire pancake the wait is becoming unbearable. I put my elbows on the table, hands clenching in a little irritation. "Any chance you want to share your theory, Lucifer?" I joke, the sound of irritation still in my voice.

Once Lucifer finally finishes his pancake, he takes a big breath and smiles. "When Alastor was hit, he was looking away. He was looking in your direction." Lucifer explains.

This bit of information is surprising. Even that early on? I know after the battle Alastor explained he was worried because he couldn't get to me. But am I the reason he got hurt?

"Alastor may have found something, or someone, he cares about more than his own personal power and growth here in Hell." Lucifer's statement brings me out of my own thoughts as my eyes focus back on him. He shrugs. "It's just a theory though." He puts his hands together, finally finished with his food. "But I hope I'm right. It would surely give me less to worry about!" Lucifer laughs a little before looking back at me.

"You might just be the key to unlocking that demon." Lucifer states.

I laugh a little at Lucifer's statement, smiling back at him. "Honestly... I kind of hope so." I reply.

"Well then that answers my earlier question." Lucifer says as he stands up, snaps his fingers and making all the dishes disappear. The table is spotless. "The two of you have something going on. I hope it works out." As he makes his statement, Lucifer walks over to my side of the table and offers me his hand, helping me out of my seat. He's such a gentleman. But I believe his words, he seems very genuine.

"Thank you, Lucifer."
