A nice breakfast with the King of Hell is exactly what I needed to get rejuvenated and have a jump start to the day! I feel like I can tackle anything! Bring it on!

"(y/n)." I hear my name in that staticky voice I've come to enjoy. It makes my fox ear twitch in the direction of the sound. Sounds like he's down the hallway a bit.

I turn my head to the right, and I was correct. Hands behind his back and standing tall, Alastor patiently waits for me.

"Hey!" I say in an excited tone as I run in his direction. It's not until I'm closer I realize that even though he's smiling like he always does, he doesn't look happy.

"Care to explain what you were doing with him?" The disdain and venom in that last word makes me think that Alastor hates Lucifer just as much as Lucifer hates Alastor.

"Lucifer?" I question even though I know exactly who he's talking about. I don't miss the eye twitch and continued anger in his eyes. "Just having breakfast. He makes amazing pancakes. How can I say no to that?" I joke, trying to deescalate the anger I see.

Alastor doesn't seem charmed by my explanation. "He sure seemed pretty... chummy around you. Wouldn't you say?" Alastor continues his questioning.

"No." I respond clearly. "I needed food and wanted someone to talk to. That was it. I didn't think anything more of it." I explain, challenging his inner thoughts with my truthful reencounter of the event. I feel like I can see his wheels turning, like he's battling with what his mind is telling him versus what I've told him. I wonder if he's felt jealous before.

"Hey." I say calmly, putting my hand on his face, trying to refocus him. His eyes seem a bit clearer, less chaotic. "I've told you many times, haven't I?" I question him. It seems he already knows the words I'm going to say.

"I know." He says before I can even say them out loud, putting his hand over mine and lowering it back down.

"And you're mine too, so don't you forget it." I joke, smiling, tail swaying with excitement. I hear a small laugh come from his chest. Good. Crisis averted. "What did you need me for?" I question.

"I think you're finally strong enough." Alastor starts off, finally letting go of my hand. "It's time for you to attend your first overlord meeting." He states.

"I'm sorry... what?!" I take a step back, surprised. "You want me to go to an overlord meeting. Are you nuts?!" I question Alastor.

"I haven't been able to attend since the battle with Adam, and I would prefer someone within my circle at the table than someone else." Alastor explains as he starts walking down the hallway. I walk at his side, listening to him explain.

"Most of Hell still believe Adam killed me during the battle, including the overlords." Alastor clarifies. "I think it's wise to keep that a secret for as long as needed until it's beneficial for us to reveal that I'm still here." He continues.

He included us both in his plan. Not beneficial to him! Beneficial to us! But I have so many questions.

"How can the overlords think you're dead if the new residents of the hotel have seen you?" I ask, confused. There's no way he's stayed hidden that long.

"Oh, I've had a very convincing conversation with the new residents when I showed them their new living quarters." He states cheerfully.

"So, you threatened them?" I ask. It's a question, but I already know the answer as I smirk up at him.

"But of course, dear." Alastor responds.

"What about Vox's drones?" I ask. We continue walking, but Alastor looks down at me. "If you leave the hotel, he's sure to have seen you. Even after the battle when we were rebuilding the hotel and you reappeared, he's had to of seen you, right?" How could Vox not know!

"New technology is challenging, and I'm not a fan of it in the slightest. However, it's not impossible to learn some tricks with the drone you've obtained earlier." Alastor calmly explains. "Vox can't see me in his drones. I don't even show up as a blip in his system."

"Interesting." I mumble quietly, though I'm sure Alastor heard. "So, the overlords think you're dead. It's not unheard of for demons to want a seat at that table, so it wouldn't be too out of place for someone to make a move because of your demise." I start thinking through his plan out loud.

"Precisely." Alastor seems proud that I've caught on so quickly to his thinking. We finally arrived at one of the many doors in the hotel, leading to a room. Not my room though... his room. I haven't been in his room since... our first time. My face blushes at the thought.

Alastor opens the door and motions for me to enter, which I do. I still look down, trying to hide my red cheeks until they go away. I hear him close the door before he continues talking, like I'm not embarrassed out of my mind.

"You're also powerful enough now to be taken seriously by them." Alastor continues. I hear his footsteps stop behind me, one hand on my shoulder and the other gently holding the ruby necklace around my neck. "You've become quite powerful, (y/n)." He laughs a little, still holding onto the necklace. "The gem feels heavier than before. It holds many souls, and that weight does add up." As he lets the necklace go, his hand gently runs up my neck and through my hair. That small feeling would have me swooning if I wasn't trying so hard to stay focused.

But he's right. I never paid much attention to it. Probably because I wear the necklace non-stop, but as I lift it slightly, it does feel a little heavier.

"You wouldn't be the most powerful one in the room, so still be careful." Alastor cautions. He walks further into his unique room. With the snap of his fingers a small table and two chairs materializes. He pulls one chair out and motions for me to sit, which I do. He sits in the other chair.

"I want to run through the plan with you tonight. They meet tomorrow." Alastor has his fingers clasped together and a serious look on his face. Is he worried?

"Sounds good. Let's go over all the details. I want to make sure this is done right." I smile, on board and excited about this plan.

"Good girl." Alastor responds in that sexy low tone. Wait, now's not the time! I need to keep my mind in the right place! "Oh, and you're going to need this." Alastor mentions as he again snaps his fingers, making the object appear on the table.

I look down and see Alastor's staff in two pieces. I tilt my head in confusion, looking at Alastor. "Your broken staff?" I ask.

"Demons still believe I died in the battle with Adam." Alastor again mentions. He looks at me with his eyes slightly glowing, the excitement evident. "We're going to make the overlords believe you finished me off."
