*Your POV*
Alastor is finally in the kitchen; he must be done with his broadcast. I'm not sure how much more of this awkward situation I can handle! Where do I even start?!
I was hoping that when he arrived, he'd be able to clear up the confusion of what she was doing here. Exactly who she is, and why in the nine circles she looks like us! I didn't miss the look of panic he first had when he rose from the shadows. Was he worried?
Now he still looks worried, but much more confused as well. We're in a similar situation then.
"Alastor?" I question, figuring if I said his name, it may bring him out of whatever trance he seems to be in.
Alastor's ear twitches when he hears me say his name, his eyes coming back into focus with mine. He blinks a few times, looking between me and the small child I'm holding. "(y/n)... who... is this?" He asks slowly.
"You mean you don't know?!" Charlie basically yells, getting everyone's attention, including the small girl in my arms. "How do you not know who she is?!" Charlie questions him.
"I mean... she looks just like you, Alastor." Vaggie mentions calmly as she looks from the small girl to Alastor, a hand on her hip.
"She looks like both of them." Husk clarifies. He's not wrong, she does.
"There's no way (y/n) has been hiding her this long!" Angel throws out, his arms dramatically flailing about. "Where did she come from?! Sinners can't... ya know!" Angel states.
There are so many questions. I have them too! It seems like there's finally a lull in the conversation, at least enough for me to explain what I do know.
"Literally, I came to the kitchen earlier and no one was here. Came back, like, five minutes later and found her trying to open the fridge." I explain to the group. "She came out of nowhere!"
Alastor's reaction wasn't verbal, but still noticeable by everyone. The sound of static echoes loudly in the kitchen followed by what sounds like radio stations switching rapidly. Alastor looks like he may have lost balance for a second, holding one arm against the doorframe and another tightly against his chest. What does he know that I don't?
"Alastor, are you okay?" Charlie questions, taking a step closer to him to check on him.
As she does, Alastor takes a step back, making Charlie stop in her tracks. I can see that Alastor is breathing a bit heavier than normal. Is he having a panic attack?
This is all a lot, and I think having all this attention and focus surrounding him isn't helping. There needs to be something I can do.
"Hey... can I just have a minute with Alastor? Alone?" I ask the group who focuses back on me. "Once I know more of what's going on, I'll fill you in. Right now, it's still a bit of a mystery." I explain. Charlie and Vaggie give me no grief as they nod and leave the kitchen. Niffty runs out like she's late for her cleaning routine and Husk starts walking out as well.
"I don't know if we should be leaving you two alone anymore. Look what happens when we do!" Angel teases. At any other time, I would laugh. I know he's just trying to lighten the mood. What does get me to smile is how Husk grabs Angel's wrist and basically pulls him out of the kitchen.
Finally, privacy.
Well... kind of.
"Oh shoot. I didn't even think. You were probably trying to open the fridge because you were hungry!" It finally dawns on me as I look at her. "Are you hungry?" I ask.
"Yeah." She nods. She looks like she's maybe around four? Maybe five? At least old enough to understand and respond.
I open the fridge and start looking at food. "Let's see... apple?" I ask. She shakes her head with a disgusted look on her face. "Okay... eggs?" Another refusal. "Um..." I keep looking.
"Venison?" I hear Alastor question as he walks up to us.
"How is she even going to know what-" I'm quickly interrupted.
"Yeah!" She sounds so excited, basically squirming in my arms. This is when we both notice that she does have a little red tail, and it's wiggling with such excitement.
"How do you even know what that is?!" I question, only getting giggles in response.
Alastor calmly looks through the fridge and pulls out a wrapped piece of meat and begins searching for a frying pan. He's really going to make this girl venison.
"So... would this make her a cannibalistic deer, by chance?" I ask Alastor.
"Looks that way." Alastor calmly responds as he turns the stove on. It seems his soul purpose right now is cooking.
"Okay." I draw out, trying to figure out why he's not freaking out more like I am internally. "And tell me, Alastor, do you know of any... OTHER... cannibalistic deer, by chance?" I ask him with a bit of bite in my tone.
This makes him sigh, but he still doesn't look at me. "I know." He says calmly.
"Alastor, do you know what's going on?" I ask him, putting the girl down. She begins walking around the kitchen, but she's within my eyesight.
He doesn't answer me right away. It's a simple yes or no question! "Sort of." Okay, so maybe it's not? "I will tell you everything that I know, but not right this minute." That answer is a bit frustrating. He finally steps away from the stove and walks closer to me. He puts both hands gently on my cheeks. "Can I please ask for your help getting through this day together? I appreciate you and I greatly appreciate what you did for me earlier by sending everyone else away." He seems like he really needs help right now. "Just... help me through today and we'll talk tonight?" He asks.
Ugh, how can I say no to that face?! I take a deep breath and calm my anger. "I can do that." I respond.
"Thank you." Alastor says sincerely, giving me a small kiss before going back to making the small girl food.
I turn my attention back to her. She seems to be exploring the kitchen. "Where did you come from?" I ask her.
She looks around the kitchen a little and then points to a different spot in the room. "There!" She says proudly.
"No, I mean..." How do I explain to a small child?! "...where were you before you were in this room?" I ask again.
She thinks before responding. "Nowhere." She responds. Ugh! Let's try a different question.
"What's your name?" I ask her.
"Emma!" She says proudly. Okay, so she knows that one.
"Where are your parents?" I ask her. She seems confused by that question. Maybe I need to clarify. "Maybe your mom and dad?" I ask again.
Emma tilts her head to the side and looks at me like I grew a second head. The confusion is written all over her face. Maybe she doesn't know her parents.
That thought is quickly interrupted when she points at me. "My momma is right here." Then her small hand moves over to Alastor, who is now fully invested in this conversation. "And my daddy is right there." She confidently explains.
I know Alastor said he would explain what he knew later, but how can I just pretend this is normal?! I turn to look at Alastor.
"What did you do?" I ask him.
