~T Minus 1(?) More Chapter!~
"So, what do you remember?" I ask Alastor as he lays across me on the couch in the main lobby. His head in my lap as I run my hand through his hair. I do my best to avoid his ears. I know how sensitive they are and how he would feel about others in the room knowing that secret. He wouldn't be very happy about that at all.
"It's interesting." Alastor responds. He doesn't open his eyes. He seems relaxed. "I mean, I remember the surroundings. I remember Lilith. I remember seeing Angel and Husk. Everyone was around, but I didn't care. None of them mattered to me." Alastor finally opens his eyes and looks up at me. "All I could think about, all my mind was consumed with, was you." He explains.
"My need to keep you safe. To keep you happy. To make sure you felt loved and adored every second. It was... honestly, overwhelming." Alastor lowers his ears and narrows his eyes at me. "Let's not do that again." He mutters.
I can't help but laugh. It almost looks like he's pouting. "I think we're good." I try to ease his mind. "I'm just glad you trusted me enough so that this plan could come to fruition. To let me have such control. It was a big ask." I look down at him with a smirk. "What if I just never ended our deal? What if I just kept you like that? Forever." I joke.
"Ugh." Alastor seems disgusted by the thought. "I think you would've gotten sick of it." He says, as if he's trying not to be vulnerable. "But..." Alastor looks back up at me, leaning up and giving me one small kiss. "I trust you with my afterlife, my love." Alastor says quietly. I can't help but feel butterflies when he says things like that. Though, apparently, he didn't say it quietly enough.
"So... are you two, like, an official thing now?" Angel questions, looking at us from another couch in the lobby. It's interesting, he looks both confused and uncomfortable. I don't really blame him.
"I mean, yes?" I know it sounds more like a question than an answer. "At least to the hotel. I'm sure it will spread quickly in Hell at some point. But I'm not worried." Alastor sits back up as I talk with Angel.
"Plus. I'm powerful." Alastor totes, before looking at me. "She's powerful too. Well, we're powerful. I don't think anyone in Hell will give us much of a problem." He sounds so confident. I hope we won't have to test that theory.
Our discussion comes to an end once we see Charlie, Vaggie and Lilith walking down the stairs from the second floor of the hotel. I know Lilith and Charlie went somewhere more private to talk, and I'm guessing Vaggie was invited to that meeting. They seem like they are in good spirits. I wonder what they talked about.
"(y/n)." Lilith calls my name. She doesn't sound confrontational; I think I'm safe. Alastor must think so too. I walk over without any argument from him. I don't say anything to her, waiting to see what she says.
"Charlie says you've been a wonderful addition to the hotel." Lilith explains, a smile on her face. "I'm happy you're here. I hope there will be no hard feelings moving forward." Even though I know it's a statement, it sounds more like a question.
"I don't see there being any issues." I smile at her. I don't think Lilith will apologize for earlier, so a truce will have to work. I look over at Charlie. "I'm very grateful to Charlie for letting me stay here. Even if I never get redeemed." I joke.
"You never know!" Charlie interjects. "You've been doing great things!" She explains.
"That's great, but I don't want to be redeemed." I correct myself. "There's something more important for me here." I look around, trying to find her.
"Can you let go of my wing?!" Husk yells, trying to pull Emma's fingers off his wing. Found her! I knew leaving her with Husk was a good choice!
"Oh yeah, about that." Lilith begins. About Emma? I look back at Lilith. "Sorry for teasing you with her. I should probably get her out of your hair." She mentions so nonchalantly.
Alastor is standing next to me before I have time to even think. "Don't you dare." Alastor threatens. Even though he's speaking his mouth doesn't move. His eyes are out of control radio dials and an eerie static hum can be heard radiating off him. He's obviously upset by her statement.
"Alastor, (y/n)." Lilith crosses her arms, looking a bit sad. "Hell is no place to raise a child. She'll only be surrounded by misery, death, drugs, and a plethora of other things." She's not wrong, and I understand this isn't an ideal environment. But please don't take her away!
"Lilith..." It's been a while since I've heard his voice. His entrance makes all of us turn as he walks up closer to Lilith, holding her hand in both of his. It's interesting. I'm not sure the last time they've interacted, but I can see the adoration in her eyes when they meet his. They truly love each other, no matter what's going on in their world.
Lucifer's smile is so genuine and wide. I love the way he looks at his wife. It's like nothing else in the world matters. "Lilith. We raised a child here." He looks over at Charlie. "A beautiful, wonderful, strong, independent, and wonderful person." Lucifer states.
"You said wonderful twice." Lilith laughs at her husband.
"That's how wonderful she is!" Lucifer responds. "Imagine if we were deprived of that. How empty we would've felt."
I can only hope it's due to my positive relationship with Lucifer that he's defending us like this. I know it's not because of Alastor. But I appreciate it, nonetheless.
"I bet Emma will grow up to be a beautiful, wonderful, strong, and independent person as well." Lucifer explains to Lilith.
"You only said wonderful once that time." I chime in.
Lucifer shrugs. "Sorry, no one can be as wonderful as my little girl." He jests, looking from me back to Lilith. "Give her a chance."
Lilith's smile is so bright as she looks at her husband. "How can I say no to that face?" She's so smitten with him.
"Fuck, we should've just shoved him in front of us when she got here. She would've been powerless." I joke quietly with Alastor, who has finally calmed down enough to look more like himself.
"I guarantee she'll be the most wonderful demon in all of Hell." Alastor chimes in, glaring at Lucifer with his signature shit eating grin. He's seriously going to turn this into a competition?!
Lucifer laughs. "There's no way." Lucifer wipes off his sleeve like he's wiping off the negativity coming off Alastor. This is ridiculous. I can't help but internally laugh at Lilith's eye roll. She must find this as entertaining as I do. "You're lucky you have (y/n). That's how I know Emma will grow up okay. If it was just you?! We'd all be doomed." Lucifer sounds unamused. I love how he can insult Alastor while still complimenting me.
"Oh, you short man." Alastor laughs, making Lucifer even more angry. Alastor leans over so that he's face to face with Lucifer. "I will prove to you all that I can be Hell's greatest dad."
