Georgia and the kids were headed to Wellsbury, but you had to stay back for a bit to wrap up at your old job and to wait for the courier to pick up the rest of your belongings.
You recently got married to Georgia and decided to move. It would be a nice change of scenery and a fresh start for your family.
On your search for a home, you came across this quaint town called Wellsbury. It looked perfect in the pictures. It seemed to be a very nice and peaceful town, exactly where you'd want to settle down.
Something about it just drew you in. You found the perfect house and the perfect school, not only for Ginny and Austin, but also for you.
You have been teaching maths to high schoolers for half a decade and you kind of loved it. You'd been told more than once by students that they started to like maths after having you as their teacher because they were finally able to understand it.
You prided yourself in that. You knew that different students may need different teaching methods, so you always made sure everyone understood what they were doing by teaching it in various ways.
You didn't make much as a teacher, but you didn't mind that because you got to help teenagers develop their skills and their intelligence. You loved seeing your students succeed. It made your job feel worthwhile.

You were supposed to get to Wellsbury on Sunday, but because of a small delay, you weren't able to leave on time.
It had been a week since Georgia went and you couldn't wait to join her and the kids at your new house.
Because you were delayed, you only arrived in Wellsbury on Monday morning and had to go straight to work so you wouldn't be late on the first day.
The school was amazing. It was the first time you got to see it in person as all the interviews in the hiring process were held over the phone and online.
Your first class went well, you got some looks but that was to be expected as you were a new teacher at the school and new in town in general, nobody knew you yet.
You weren't doing much today, just introducing yourself, getting to know your students and giving an introductory lesson about your subject and the syllabus.
"Hello, class." You say as you walk in, students were chattering, but most of them stopped when you walked in.
"My name is Mrs Miller." You continue speaking as you turn towards the class. "Mom?!" You heard the familiar voice of your stepdaughter as she looked up at you.
You couldn't help the smile that spread on your lips. It was the first time she called you that. She quickly realised what she said and slumped into her chair embarrassed.
"Hi, Gin." You said with a smile. You couldn't help but notice that everyone was staring between you and Ginny, shocked expressions on their faces.
Ginny of course knew that you were a teacher and that you would be teaching at her school, but she hadn't known that you were in Wellsbury already since you barely got here in time to go to work.
"So, in this class, we will be covering..." You said, starting to teach the class. The shocked stares disappeared as the students started either paying attention or slumping back in their seats, bored.
---
"Are you coming home with me, hun?" You texted Ginny towards the end of the day. You didn't know if you should wait for her or if she had other plans.
"I'm hanging out with my friends after class. I'll see you at home." She texted back. You expected this response. "Have fun. Call me or Georgia if you need a lift later." You texted back and went to your car as you didn't have a class for the last period.
You couldn't help but smile on your way home. Ginny called you mom for the first time and you were excited.
In the almost 2 years you've been with Georgia, she never called you that. It was always Y/n. You didn't mind because she was already a teenager when you came into her life and knew it would be harder for her to adjust to a new parental figure.
You pulled into the driveway, getting your first look at the house in person. You got out, closing your door and locking the car.
The front door burst open, "mommm." Austin yelled as he ran towards you, his arms outstretched.
"Hi, baby." You said excitedly as you picked him up, spinning him. He always loved when you did that. "How was school?" You asked him as you started walking towards the house, your wife standing at the front door with a smile.
"It was good." He said with a smile as you put him down. "You can tell me all about it after I say hi to your mom okay?" You said and he nodded happily, running inside the house.
You smiled at Georgia before pulling her into a hug. "About time. I missed you." Georgia said as you pulled away, leading her inside.
"Sorry, honey. You know I would have been here a week ago if I could have." You whispered before kissing her lips softly.
"I know." She hummed as you pulled away. "You won't believe what happened at school today though." You said smiling just from thinking about it.
"What?" Georgia asked, intrigued. "Ginny called me mom." You said happily. "Really? That's amazing." She said excitedly.
"I don't think she meant to, but a win is a win." You said with a chuckle, causing Georgia to raise an eyebrow in curiosity.
"I assume she didn't know that I would be here today because she seemed surprised when she saw me and blurted out mom when I introduced myself to the class." You told her.
"So her gut reaction was to call you mom." Georgia pointed out. "Fair point. You should have seen her face though when she said it, she was so embarrassed." You chuckled.
"I have been called mom by other students before. But I've never been so happy about it." You expressed happily.
Georgia was about to say something but was cut off by Austin yelling 'mom'. You and Georgia exchanged a glance, "I think he means me, I did tell him that he can tell me all about school." You hummed.
Georgia smiled and you pecked her lips before going to Austins room. You spent some time with Austin, catching up on everything you've missed over the week you haven't seen him.
---
"What do you think are the chances that Ginny will call me mom ever again?" You asked with a chuckle as you walked into your room, taking off your blazer.
Georgia looked at you smiling, "Slim to none." She said after a pause. You nodded in agreement. You thought so too.
You wouldn't be surprised if she started avoiding you because she's embarrassed about it. Not that she needed to be. You didn't mind what she called you as long as she was comfortable.
---
A few hours later, Ginny came back to the house. "Ah, just in time. Dinner is ready." Georgia said as Ginny walked in the door.
"Yeah I'll be there in 5." Ginny said, rushing up to her room to leave her backpack. She came back downstairs, washing her hands while you plated up some food for her.
Georgia and Austin were already at the table, waiting for you and Ginny to join them.
"Thanks, mom." Ginny said as she took the offered plate, smirking. Your face lit up as she said that.
Ginny saw how happy you were when she called you mom earlier, so she decided to keep doing it.
Ginny didn't like you much at first, but she saw how happy Georgia became when she started seeing you. Over time, she grew to like you and wanted you to be happy.
You joined the table happily. You couldn't keep the smile off your face for the entire dinner. You really had become one happy family.
