Hailee was hosting game night at her place this month. She and her friends had busy lives, but one day they always made time for was game night.
They only did it once a month, rotating hosts every time, but it was always fun, full of snacks, board games and catching up on each othes lives.
This game night was a little different though, a little more special. Today, Hailee was going to introduce her girlfriend, Y/n, to her friend group.
Y/n was a little nervous about meeting Hailees friends, but Hailee reassured her that her friends will adore her.
Hailee knew that her friends could be overprotective sometimes, having had a few bad partners in the past.
In knowing that, the pair decided that they were going to be up to no good and devised a little plan to prank her friends. A slightly dramatic and mildly unhinged prank, but totally harmless.
The plan was to start a fake fight and in the heat of the moment, Hailee would slap Y/n to see how her friends would react.
Y/n was the one who thought of the prank idea and told Hailee not to hold back to make it seem more realistic.
Hailee wasn't on board with it at first. Slapping her partner was the last thing she wanted to do, but after a long conversation, she finally agreed.
Slowly all of Hailees friend group arrived and Hailee introduced each one to her girlfriend. Y/n and Hailee have been together for about 2 months and they were already smitten with each other.
The night started off slow as the group played some games and Y/n seemed to blend into the group with no issue, easily holding conversations and getting along well with everyone.
Hailee watched as Y/n made the group burst into laughter, a small smile settling on her lips. This couldn't have gone over better. Her friends loved Y/n.
As the group didn't know Y/n that well and vice versa, they decided to play a game of Truth or Drink.
"Hailee," Chloe said, playing with her half empty drink in her hands, "what's the most annoying thing about Y/n?"
Hailee laughed, leaning back slightly. "Oh, I think she knows what it is. She’s always late." Hailee says with an almost teasing tone.
Y/ns smile faded before she smiled again. Here goes nothing. "Because I don't rush like a maniac every time we go out?" Y/n asks in a slightly accusing tone.
“You take forever to get ready,” Hailee shot back, voice edged just enough to feel realistic. Y/n blinked slowly, trying not to burst out laughing.
“Sorry I don’t leave the house looking like a troll.” Y/n said defensively.
Taylor gasped while Chloe chuckled awkwardly. She did not mean to cause an argument. It was a pretty harmless question.
Their other friends, Elle and Mason exchanged glances, their eyes widened in surprise.
“Maybe try being on time for once. It’s not that hard.” Hailee said, narrowing her eyes. "I guess being patient is." Y/n said looking away from Hailee with a small scoff.
"Don't talk to me like that." Hailee said, shaking her head slightly as she stood up from the sofa, looking at Y/n intently.
"What are you gonna do about it?" Y/n asked, standing up too, meeting Hailees gaze, their faces only a couple inches apart.
"Guys please...chill out." Taylor said, but her protests went on deaf ears. "Don't test me, Y/n." Hailee said through gritted teeth.
"What are you embarrassed to be-" Y/n started taunting before she got cut off by a sharp clean slap across her face. It wasn't hard, only a soft sting on the cheek, but loud enough that it made everyone freeze.
Y/ns face whipped to the side, staring wide eyed. "Did you seriously just..." y/n said in disbelief, trailing off the sentence for a more dramatic effect as Hailees friends still processed what happened.
"You deserved it." Hailee said flatly, her breathing irregular as she breathed in deeply. Even tho it was fake, she still felt like shit for doing that.
Dead silence enveloped the room for a moment before the sound of Mason putting down his beer broke the silence, while Elle looked like she was considering jumping over the coffee table between them.
"What the hell just happened?" Chloe stammered out, feeling responsible for the whole thing.
Y/n couldn't hold it anymore and burst into laughter. Hailee followed, collapsing into a fit of giggles. “Oh my God, your faces!” she exclaimed.
"Best prank ever." Y/n laughed as she turned to face Hailee again and high fived her enthusiastically. "Ah I wish you could have seen yourselves." Y/n added as her laughter subsided.
Mason just blinked, still frozen in his seat. Chloes mouth hung open in disbelief. Here she was thinking she had been the reason Hailee assaulted her own girlfriend.
“You’re...joking?” Olivia finally asked, her eyes examining the couple in front of her. “Completely,” Hailee said with a smile. “We just wanted to see how you guys would react.”
"Honestly your reactions were priceless." Y/n grinned. "As far as making first impressions, I'm sure you'll remember mine forever." Y/n smirked.
Taylor exhaled slowly before starting to laugh. “You’re both evil, I hope you know that. But I love you despite that” Taylor said, rolling her eyes as she hugged Hailee.
"I love you too guys." Hailee said with a soft smile. "Are you okay baby?" Hailee asked as she pulled Y/n closer, examining her face.
"I'm okay." Y/n smiled, pulling Hailee in for a sweet kiss. "Gross," Mason joked as they kissed. "I can't believe you did that to us." He added, shaking his head in disapproval dramatically
