"You have entered the lair," a demon stepped out of one of many doors within the pagoda, "OF THE RED-MAINED DE-!" A kick was swiftly sent to the monologuing demon's face, sending him flying back into a pillar. He quickly realized the mistake he made when he looked up at the offender only to find the Monkey King himself, one foot still in the air from the high kick he had lazily used to send the demon back. "M-M-M-Monkey King?!" He quickly got up and nervously spoke, "I'm just gonna go... Byyyeee." He ran off.
"Hey, you get back here mister!" Linwan watched Mei yell at and chase the poor demon through doors that opened at random places, to random places, and generally made no coherent sense. Once Mei fell through a door on one of the ceilings, she gave up the chase, kneeling on the floor she smacked into as she spoke. "This pagoda IS SO CONFUSIIIING!" MK chuckled with a hand over his mouth like he was trying to keep it quiet, which made Lin smile a little, but Mei wasn't as amused by it. "Uh- ah ah ah! Don't you smile!" She pointed at the boy as she continued. "We've been wandering around Li Jing's cool magical prison thingy for a while now. It's time we have a little talk about how bringing us in here is," she turned as she spoke and smiled like she was two seconds from snapping, "the dumbest thing MK has ever done." She held a fist up as she finished her statement, ready to hit the poor boy but barely holding back, though she did also dig into Linwan a bit. "It's also the dumbest thing Li-Li has ever followed him into!" The young warrior shrugged in agreement. This had been stupid, even if it was inevitable with Li Jing ready to pull them into the pagoda anyway. "Hey!" The young hero sounded offended, and their mentor came in to help his rebuttal, "Yeah, the kids have done plenty of dumber stuff than this!" "Yeah!" The boy agreed before doing a double take, "uh- wait." Mei didn't let him take it in as she merely continued. "We're in this inescapable prison, fighting every demon Li Jing's ever trapped, looking for the Jade Emperor's power WHICH MIGHT NOT EVEN BE HERE! If we ever find it, it might not even be the thing we're looking for! DUH!"
The others continued to speak, but Linwan kept getting a bit distracted. Sure, it felt like they were being watched before. They were fresh meat in this prison. But... It felt weird this time. When she tuned into the conversation, MK was talking again. "The Jade Emperor's power is here and it IS the fifth stone." "Look, kid," Pigsy began, "this just doesn't make a ton of sense." The boy looked frustrated and even let out an annoyed noise before he thought on it. "Then there's only one way to explain it to you... Tang, glasses!" He yoinked them right off the scholar's face, showing that Tang actually looked nice with and without glasses. Lucky. Some people just looked odd without that added accessory, you know? Anyway, as Tang freaked out about no longer having proper vision, MK posed himself and put the glasses on with a 'hm'. "Long ago," he began in a Tang impression, "the-" "What is this?..." Tang spoke suspiciously. "Ah heh, sorry Tangy, sometimes when we gotta explain something- yeah." Mei chimed in then did her own impression. "Legends say-" "The old tales-" Pigsy joined in, followed by Sandy. "Long ago-" Mo meowed and Wukong wiggled his arms around as he finished it off. "I'm Jangles." Tang looked at Linwan with squinted eyes and she shrugged. "No one can stop or resist the temptation of Tang storytelling." He harrumphed at her repeating back one of his stories with a twist... and a touch of Tang impersonating. Though she definitely added more by sounding like him. "Sorry," Pigsy put Tang's glasses back onto the scholar, "yeah, it's uh, a compliment? Eheh." Tang crossed his arms with a small scowl as MK went back to his story. "Long ago, five color stones were used to mend the Pillar of Heaven to keep the chaos in check. Each stone protected by their own guardian. But with each stone we received from a guardian, the cracks have only gotten worse. And when did that all start? When Azure overthrew the Jade Emperor, because the fifth and final stone, it turns out was actually... The first stone!"
