That's right! Small break from the shit storm on its way! I feel like it's needed.

Sleeping Scare

Linwan yawned as she got up, holding the blankets over her shoulders as she walked towards the bathroom. It may have been two in the morning, but she needed to use the damn bathroom. She paused in the doorway to see her mentor leaned over the sink, though he was just standing there, doing literally nothing as his arms were limp to his sides. It was almost like he was looking into the mirror, especially with his scar on display. "Um, Mac?" She walked over and blinked at him when his head drooped a bit. "Aaaalright. You're sleeping standing up. That's... that explains a lot, actually." She put a hand to her chin and thought about what to do. After a moment, she gently spoke to him. "Let's get you to bed, okay?" He gave a half nod and leaned into her a bit, wrapping himself around her. "Kinda heavy, but okay." She slowly started walking back towards the bedroom and got him to lay back in bed, but was pulled in before she could get back up. She shrugged and enjoyed this cuddly side of her mentor, then froze. "Shit, I'm thirsty now..."

Grooming

"Um, Mac?" "What is it, kid?" "How do you groom monkeys?" "What? Why would you-?" He gave her a confused look then deadpanned at her. "Wukong told you what the monkeys said, didn't he." "Wukong told me what the monkeys said, yeah." He sighed. "Come here." She hurriedly sat in front of him and held her knees close to her chest. "What are you-?" "I saw the monkeys sit like this so-" "Oh. Right. So you want to start by brushing the top coat a bit." "Monkeys have multiple coats?" "Yes, pay attention." She closed her mouth and listened. "Now, you want to go through once on the top coat before you really dig in there. Most monkeys will just dive in, but it's better this way to ensure that you get all the small tangles out before tackling the big ones." He continued to groom her before stopping and blinking. "Everything okay back there Mac?" "You have food in your hair... Why?" "Food?" "Yeah, some candy." "DAMMIT MK!" She huffed. "He said I was clear. No wonder the monkeys mentioned knowing MK as a compliment to me." He laughed. "They said that?" "According to Monkey King. Man that name is long..." He sighed and shook his head. "You're telling me... Anyway, let's get this cleaned out." "Mkay."

Drama Garbage

"I doubt I'll be into this garbage kid..." "Trust me, you'll like it." She sat down and chewed on some chips quietly as the drama show began. It had taken about half the episode before the two ran out of chips, being too into the show to pay attention until they were actually out. "Damn, I'll go get more." "Alright." She got up and went to the kitchen during the break but managed to zone out for a moment. Suddenly, Macaque yelled from the living room. "Kid, hurry up! That bitch just made a new plan." A loud thud could be heard behind the couch before Linwan popped up. "NO FUCKING WAY!" "YEAH! Totally told the others she'd handle it, but no! She wants to be top dog so she threw Xia under the bus." "Ooooo drama." "I know right?" "She isn't gonna like that one bit." "You know, I think this'll be perfect for a bit of sabotage from Hua." "Think Lian will get in on it?" "For sure, those two are such troublemakers." She smiled at him as he continued watching. "Hey Mac?" "Yeah?" "Told you you'd like it."

Shadow Theater

"Kid?" Linwan peeked out from the kitchen. "Yeah, Macaroon?" He gave her a 'really?' look then continued. "I've got some ideas for my shadow plays and I need your opinion. "Shadow... Play?" He looked at her in confusion. "Um... Yeah. Shadow plays." "I'm sorry, but what's a shadow play?" An actual look of offense appeared on the monkey's face before he suddenly portaled her over and grabbed her cheeks. "The hell do you mean 'what's a shadow play'?!" "U-uh... I've never heard of one before." Her voice came out muffled due to being squished, but he quickly let her face go to ramble, so she gently rubbed her cheeks. "Monkey grip..." She watched him pace as he sputtered angrily. "Mac... Mac. Mac!" He froze and looked at her. "Why don't you show me what a shadow play is?" He paused then immediately grabbed his lantern, holding it before making it float between his hands. "Prepare yourself, my student, for a tale!" She giggled and sat back, happy to see what her mentor had to offer.

An RP-What?

Linwan was leaned into Macaque's side as she played on her phone. He glanced over and saw some dialogue boxes pop up. "What are ya playing kid?" "Hm? Oh, it's an RPG." "R...P...?" "Roleplaying Game. Think of it like a story that you help create or play through." "Like my shadow plays." "... What's a shadow play? Is that like a puppet show but with shadows?" He looked down at her in actual offense then huffed. "You're coming with me to my damn theater. Actually, come on. Let's go now." "Now? Mac, it's nearly ten at night." "Exactly. Get a private show." "Oooo fancy." She got up and he grabbed her arm. "No time to get ready. You need to see this now." She looked confused at his sudden passion, but ended up smiling. "Alright, alright. Come on then." She let him portal them to the theater and he scurried off quickly. She snickered and sat in the front. Let's just say they went through quite a few of his shadow plays and she happily watched each one.

This was a really really short one with about 900 words in total. Yes it's my shortest, but I loved writing it because it's just a few wholesome moments between the two that I happily offer to you all. And now we return to your regularly scheduled program.

Side note because I realize it's not obvious: I believe Linwan constantly acts like she's never heard what a shadow play is. She first learned about them in "An RP-What?" but acts like she hasn't like in "Shadow Theater" (Yes, I realize I also put them backwards). This makes Mac confused and annoyed because he's SURE that he's told her, but is too flabbergasted that his student wouldn't know to properly think if he has or not. The pure shock!
