Placing down my bag, I took a deep breath and sat on the couch.
It was only early in the afternoon but I already went home because my head was throbbing and my eyes were burning due to spending too much time working in front of the computer.
On the first trial of her case, her husband was grinning like he was so proud of what he did, and it took me really a lot of patience and self-restraint to keep myself behaved.
And I knew my friends were also doing the same.
But once one of us stood up to attack him, we'd follow without a second thought just to kick that stupid grin on his stupid face.
Taking a deep sigh, I massaged my forehead and shut my eyes tightly because the lights were hurting them, but then they sprung open when I heard a creek.
I followed where it came from and found my fiance getting out of his office with his hair a little messy, but still looked so ravishingly handsome.
I didn't know that he was home but I was happy that he was, so I smiled at him.
"Hi," I greeted him using a soft, tired voice.
Though he didn't respond and instead walked until he was standing right in front of me.
"Mamma talked to me. She said you got into an argument with her?" he asked.
The smile on my lips vanished and I stopped myself from rolling my eyes.
"It wasn't an argument, Rain, it was just a mere misunderstanding," I told him calmly.
He sighed and scratched his right eyebrow. "She cried, Loreen. Mamma would never cry over just a mere misunderstanding."
"What exactly did she tell you?" I asked and stood up because he was looking down at me.
It made me look so small and powerless, especially with those dark eyes of him staring down at me.
But I wouldn't let his mother play the victim here because neither of us was.
"That she invited you to have brunch with her,," he stated, pero mali na agad 'yon dahil hindi ako inimbitahan ng nanay niya.
Tita Raina just randomly appeared here at the condo and picked me up.
An invitation means I have the freedom to choose whether to go or not. But in this case, wala akong naging choice.
"She's just helping us. You don't need to humiliate her in front of other people," he remarked.
I wanted to scoff.
